Hurtigruten Ultimate Antarctica Expedition with South Georgia and the Falklands

Review for Fram to Antarctica

Antarctica/South Georgia was number one on my travel wish list (having recently checked off #'s 2 and 3... gorilla trekking and Papua New Guinea). I had been looking for more than a decade for an Antarctica cruise and found a great deal for this cruise a couple of months before departure. It was truly the trip of a lifetime (which is saying a great deal considering I've visited over 100 countries, ...

A life changing experience on an excellent ship

Review for Fram to Antarctica

I have used Hurtigruten once before about 10 years ago (classic passage North) and enjoyed it. I chose this trip on the Fram based on that experience, reputation and price - but primarily the itinerary, which gave more time on South Georgia. Getting to Ushuaia and back was a bit of a faff, using their chartered LATAM aircraft, but it is hard to see a viable alternative. Once on the ship, I ...

Cruise to very remote areas in a very comfortable way. Everything well arranged and problemfree. Dedicated expedition team, not only competent, but also pushing strongly to give its guest the best experience. Trip of a lifetime. Quite large cabin with double bed and WC/shower. Clean and maintained twice a day. Internet Connection available at extra charge. Worked OK even in very remote areas. ...

Visits to wildlife in Falklands, South Georgia, South Orkneys, South Shetlands and Antarctic Peninsula. Also history of these places. Tremendous experiences of penguins, seals, whales, birds and some flora. Magnificent geographical scenery with mountains, glaciers and all the features one would expect of cold climates. Onboard service is excellent with wide range of buffet and set menu food ...

Fantastic experience

We were so pleased that we had chosen a small ship, since the rules in Antarctica are strict about no more than 100 people on shore at any one time. This was adhered to perfectly by our expedition team and we were most impressed. Because there were just less than 200 of us on board Fram, we were all able to go ashore twice most days, and that was fabulous. The team were very diligent in ensuring ...

Booked on our own flights to and from UK and three days prior to and after the cruise package in Buenos Aries. Time to explore a city we had not visited previously. The cruise package started and finished with charter flights between Buenos Aries and Ushuaia. Booked extras via Hurtigruten - Buenos Aries City tour before and Tango Show/meal and trip to Tigre after the cruise. All were excellent ...

Amazing

Personal recommendation Excellent in every way - instructive, active, enjoyable. The programme of daily activities was very good - interesting, relevant, educational - during our days at sea. On days of landing we enjoyed morning and afternoon landings (not possible on bigger ships where numbers landing are limited) and if it was not possible to land (due to swell or ice conditions ) either an ...

This second trip we've made with the Hurtigruten was perfect. The combined destination Iceland and Greenland was great. The ship and his complete crew, from Bridge to cleaning and "Tender crew" where great and very professional! The fellow passengers from all over the world; German, Northern Europeans and South Europeans, Chinese and Japanese, matched perfectly. No irritations or ...

I came to enjoy the cruise with my wife. Upgraded to suite and met some lovely people while on board. We have had some weather challenges snd couldnt dock, but overall enjoyed the day by day experience. Met nice restaurant team, housekeeping guy, Captain and funny Hotel Manager. Great welcome speech by the way. When we spoke with him all the things got way better! Chef Gundi we loved and his food. ...

We have just returned from a trip on the Fram. We went to the Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctica. Food was great. Expedition team delivered a smooth and safe trip for us. There were 182 passengers. We did two landings or small boat cruises on days where the weather permitted or we were not at sea. Did some lovely scenic cruises on board the ship, which I loved. On most days, but ...
