This was our first experience of a cruise proper (we had previously sailed to New York on the Queen Mary II). We went principally as a way, we hoped, of seeing the Northern Lights. We were most unfortunate in that the weather was not very good - rain and low cloud plus strong winds. However, we did see the Northern Lights on three occasions although they were a little weaker than ...
I travelled to see the Northern Lights.
In the 12 days aboard the ship our room was never vacuumed, the bed’s were made once and the sheets on the bed never changed.
The food was always lukewarm to cold.
Food leftovers from the previous night were put out for lunch next day and reheated.
No water was available at breakfast.
No coffee or tea was available for dinner.
One slice of ...
I recently went on the Hurtigrutem MS Finnmarken for an 11 night cruise from Bergen to Kirkenes and then back to Bergen, stopping at 34 ports. It was amazing, the scenery and excursions offered were fantastic.
The ship while a little tired looking and not a luxury cruise liner, was clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. I shared a outside basic cabin with my Mother and although we had ...
My husband chose this cruise for my birthday as I had always wanted to see the Northern Lights. Unfortunately we didn't see them but the cruise was really good. The places we visited were unique and the people were so friendly. The snow was amazing and the views from the ship really spectacular, even at 3 in the morning! We would like to do a cruise again maybe in the springtime to see the ...
One of the most exhilarating experiences in my life, this cruise was our perfect honeymoon gift to each other. We didn't get the time to explore Bergen, but had no issues with embarkation & disembarkation. We were thoroughly impressed by the courteous staff, who gave us a free upgrade, & also took care of my wife when she felt sea sick during mild rolling. The spread of food during all the meals ...
Saw the most amazing aurora, it was visible on 6 of the 7 possible nights. Great food on board with a nice selection and a very nice sized cabin. All the staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. Although some of the stops were very short it provided a great opportunity to see Norway and sailing so close to land all the time the journey was very smooth most of the time. Would definitely go ...
We wanted an experience that was less commercial than other large cruise lines and one which would allow us to truly experience all tha the Norwegian coast has to offer. We got exactly what we wanted and wouldn’t have changed a thing. Beautiful spacious accomodations (we stayed in a quad), ample lounge areas and high quality, delicious food. The service was impeccable and we became very ...
We (2 people) always wanted to do this. We have read about this trip and seen reports on TV. The entire trip was perfectly organised and everything went out as planned. We did the 12 day Bergen - Kirkenes - Bergen cruise. The Cabin ((Arktis Superior) was OK and functionable. We have spend there almost only time for sleeping.
The food was fantastic and we both have gained weight because we were ...
This cruise was all about the scenery which was made even better by the near perfect weather. The food was quite good. They offer buffet breakfast and lunch. Dinner is table service with a fixed menu. They offer an a la carte service in a different dining room for an additional 500 - 800 NOK. I could never get an adequate explanation for what the value was for a different meal service. As best I ...
3rd time for us and as soon as we got to the Pingvinen bar in Bergen we got onto the wifi and got down to planning the 4th one.
The views are nothing less than staggering. Utterly breathtaking. No words or photos will ever do justice to the Norwegian fjords. You need to see them with your own eyes.
We embarked at Svolvær for a three-night cruise south to Bergen. A quick treat for us for ...
