Dining
Breakfast
A wide variety of food some of it appetizing and some of it not.
Lunch
Towards the end of the trip it was a little repetitive for the smorgasbord at lunch.I think they tried hard for variety but I guess it depends on whats available. There was some attempt at providing for gluten and lactose free diets. There was always some alternatives just not a lot of ...
Cruising the fjords of Norway has been a long time ambition of mine. I chose Hurtigruten because of reports that I had heard and their 100 year plus of experience of working in these waters. I say working because their ships do work with cargo as well as passengers this all adds to the interest. Something like 32 ports of call o the round trip from Bergen to Kirkenes and back. Some with only a ...
The journey with Hurtigruten on the MS Finnmarken was the most wonderful I ever made.
The norwegian fjords are fantastic and this fresh arctic air makes you stay on the upper deck all day, you get addicted to it.
Most comfortable thing was the sauna and the two jaccuzis on the rear deck - it is too lovely to sit in the hot tub and see the ship leaving Kristiansund or Tromso or whatever!! ...
It was something we had always wanted to do and the lovely relaxed atmosphere on the ship, together with good service, lovely food, wonderful weather, made it almost perfect. We went to some lovely towns and liked the fact that there were lots of opportunities to get off the ship and look around, as well as the really great excursions. Although we didn’t get to see the Northern Lights, the ...
We chose this cruise as Hurtigruten is well known and can get into all the smaller fiords, although the ship was delayed into Bergenwhich was quite stressful after having a long day travelling .. the cabin 630 mini. Suite was lovely although we didn’t have a full bed change the whole of our 11 nights... dining was ok food was good but the food was not replenished quick enough people was waiting ...
We picked this trip based on Hurtigruten's reputation, and the fact that it's a trip experience rather than a cruise.
It fulfilled all of our expectations and more - maybe we were lucky to have great weather pretty much all the way up and back down the Norwegian coast in March / April, but as long as you get the views it wouldn't matter if the sun didn't shine quite so much. Loads of snow ...
We enjoyed every moment of this beautiful voyage. We loved the comfort of the ship which was clean and most comfortable. Excellent meals with a great variety of delicious fresh fruit, vegetables , fish and meat. Very friendly and helpful staff. The scenery is just stunning and the experience of the Northern Lights is fantastic. We would recommend this ship and cruise very highly and would happily ...
My husband and I were intent on seeing the Northern Lights and this cruise delivered! On the first night of the light show, we just didn't know how to look for them and we gave up too soon. But for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th showings, we knew what to do and how to look and on the 2nd showing especially, the dances performed by the lights were stunning. Everyone was in awe. It was especially ...
Embarkation easy and trouble free, food very good breakfast and lunch buffet main meal in the evening served by waiting staff. Cabin size small but adequate no tv no radio in our cabin cleaning not great and bedding never changed I eventually had to ask at reception for new bedding 9 days into cruise and to have the cabin hoovered. The ship layout was good and there are plenty of trips if you are ...
We wanted to see the Northern Lights and having failed to see them on a 3 day visit to Iceland our research convinced us that a cruise along the Norwegian coast may provide the best opportunity. Indeed this holiday offer guaranteed a siting or else we would get another 6 day cruise for free.
We were well advised on what to bring for the trip but because Carole is Lactose intolerant we made it ...
