"This is my second Cruise and the other one was on the Sea Princess. I thought I would compare both Cruise Lines in this review.
Last week I went on the 7 day Island Hop with P&O and last year I did 14 nights..."Read More
The cruise in general was very good and we were happy with the entertainment, activities and food - our cabin staff worked very hard and so did the cruise director. Due the corona virus we missed 2 ports which was dissappointing and P&O said that we were not going to be offered any compensation which I was not happy about. Many other passengers had received room credits in the past when these have ...
Our 1st ever cruise was some 10/12 years ago on P&O Pacific Star. Well, haven't things changed (for the better). We were very happy with the offering from P&O and in particular the crew on board the ship. They were a credit to the Company and although the ship is an older vessel (certainly showing external signs of age) the vibe on board was friendly and efficient and the crew appeared (primarily) ...
We enjoyed this cruise very much, partly because it was our first time to New Guinea but perhaps also because (this being our fifth cruise on 'the Dawn') our expectations regarding this old tub were blunted long ago (I say it fondly). Though built in 1990 and last refurbished in 2017, she looks about my age (70 this year). We're both a bit tired and very wrinkled.
To begin with, there were ...
This was our first cruise on the Dawn ( been on all the others), was a bit worried as other people had reported it as a bad experience.
However, I was very satisfied.
We were lucky with the weather and got ashore all ports, P&O organized some lectures on board which was very interesting.
Alotau - been twice previously, there isn't really much to see there. There was two new places to go ...
We were pleasantly surprised by the Pacific Dawn. We had a balcony, which was very small but the outlook was great. The cabins were clean and had usual 3 star amenities liquid soap, shampoo/conditioner and tissues. The cabin stewards were very helpful and friendly. On the cruise we mainly ate at the Waterfront Restaurant and there was always enough choice. Always remember the kitchens are in the ...
I can write a million things that you can find in a lot of other places but I would prefer to give you some info that you might not find elsewhere.
Laundry: Pacific Dawn has 2 self serve laundry's on decks 5 and 10. They take $1 coins and it is $3 wash and $3 Dry. They also have irons in these rooms as well which (I think) are free. this price is current as at 18/08/18
Fridge: The rooms have ...

We chose this cruise as a taste tester to see if we liked and could handle cruising. Being our first experience we went with an open mind. We got a cabin on Deck 5 toward the front of the ship. Our Room Stewart Martin was great, serviced our room well.
The meals/food on the ship were great. I particularly liked the Waterfront Restaurant. Meals there were nicely presented and tasted good. ...
We wanted a break after the exhaustion of Christmas and New Year. A short comedy cruise seemed to fit the bill.
Pros.....our superb cabin - see below; the comedy acts; the speciality restaurants;
Cons.....bogan, unruly, loud, ill mannered adults. The zillions of kids were great in comparison!
The ship has been extensively refurbished and seems to work, except the atrium and main public ...
