We used to be BIG fans of Disney cruises. We just went on our 7th and were rather disappointed. The things that we loved, especially the kids club and character meetings, have been ruined. We took our first Disney Cruise on the Magic my youngest was 3. The Lil' Cruisers (ages 3-5) were in the Oceaneers Club. The Older kids, including my daughter, went to the Oceaneers Lab. It as perfect! Now, all children aged 3-12 are thrown together in a chaotic melee. Our 3 year old granddaughter hated it. She lasted an hour and when we returned to pick her up she was left alone in a chair with silent tears streaming down her cheeks. NOT the Disney I remember and certainly not the Disney my children remember. The characters used to roam the ship decks and Castaway Cay. Now, you endure long lines to get a picture. And gone are the days of turning in your autograph book to get missed signatures. Needless to say, our next Cruise may be Royal Caribbean, who now holds the #1 spot for kids club reviews. They still separate by age groups, so there may be something to that. I really hope that someone at Disney reads this. We were heartbroken by the negative changes. Fortunately, it was a short Cruise. I would've been really miffed had we invested in a weeklong Cruise. Read Less

We got an amazing, last minute deal on this cruise and decided it would be a nice little, weekend get-away for just me and my wife. We had and absolutely wonderful time. the Disney Dream is an amazing ship. the Crew was incredible and we had the time of our lives. And being able to get a quick glimpse of the Blood Moon was na added bonus. We booked a GTY-5C and got Cabin 8038, port-side forward. The room was great and large. and we had more than enough room for the two of us. Our Stateroom Host, Wayan, was amazing and made sure ore every need was met. We loved our veranda. we spent every morning sipping coffee and watching the world go by. Room service was great and made sure our coffee was delivered each morning, hot and on time. Cabanas is always great and we love the selections, especially for lunch. We think the spread is excellent with a great variety. we did visit Palo's twice (a lot for a 3 night cruise), once for Brunch on our Nassau port day, and once for dinner after a pretty good day at Castaway Cay. Brunch at Palo's is ALWAYS amazing....and MUST for everyone ever cruising on Disney. The food is absolutely amazing and well worth the extra money. We have the save server both trips to Palo's, Katia, was very attentive, and very sweet. She mad for a very exceptional experience. This was our first dinner at Palo's, and we loved every minute of it. The food was great the the setting was perfect. Sunset on the Dream during dinner made for a very special time. Our Server, Ivan, and assistant server, Bernard, at our rotational dining were also great. They were very attentive, and lots of fun. on the first night, brought out a birthday cake for me and sung me Happy Birthday. Even our head Server Rakesh got in on the act. It was a very pleasant surprise, and very un expected, but Disney seems to always go way above and beyond. This being our 10th Disney cruise, we didn't attend any of the shows or movies on board. we've seen most of the shows and really just wanted to spend quality time together. Nassau is old news, so we never get off the ship at the port. We were expecting bad weather for the Castaway Cay day, so we got off the Ship early and enjoyed a leisurely walk around the island before returning to the ship for another great lunch at Cabanas. then we hung out on our veranda and watch the rain come in and the number of passengers who managed to get caught in the rain before heading back to the ship. We can't blame Disney for the weather, and they went way out of their way to plan activities onboard the ship because of the weather. For us, bad weather days are still magical and fun. We love Disney and only wish this cruise was way way longer. Read Less

If you like long line ups you will love the embarkation and disembarkation process for the Disney cruises. We have taken many cruises and our experience with Disney was the worst. The advantages of the cruise are the many activities for kids: water sports, beach activities, mini-golf, shows, music etc. Also, the staff are very good with children. But the negatives are substantial. The ship was very crowded and line-ups were common for many activities. Because of the number of people the ship was noisy and somewhat chaotic. Also, the dining was a problem. The only dining time that we could get was 8:15----far too late for small children. On the first 3 nights there were at least other options. But on the last night we were told that the staff had to clean the ship for the next group of people----interesting that the ship is being run for their convenience not the passengers---so the only other option was a hamburger place or a limited room service menu. The food was mediocre and I had stomach problems while on the ship, which miraculously disappeared when we got home. Would not recommend Disney Cruises Read Less

We had chosen this cruise because our son loves Mickey and the characters. All I can say is they go above and beyond. We chose the shorter trip because my wife has major motion sickness (she took a patch). Everything was so clean, events were well organized, so much to do, food was very good for all ages. There was a hiccup our first night dining as we were the late group. The second night and on we were Wow'd. Then they seated us in our private table and wow, the staff was so good. One of the best staff's I have ever had the pleasure to deal with. Very interactive with our son and us and you can tell they were in sync as a team. They knew how, what, and when we liked in our orders to a T. We expected good service and received the best, as in the gourmet restaurants we had been to. The staff was excellent, they personalized everything, Bahama excursion to Atlantis is a must. 99% of the trip you had barely noticed that you were on the ship, moving. Bahama excursion was well laid out and organized. We were able to enjoy the aquarium, beaches, casino (no), and food that was located there. Food and beverage to purchase but wow, you can spend a whole day there. We felt safe and secure as the staff at Atlantis welcomed you also. Pirates theme night was awesome as my son enjoyed the live shows, movies while he swam, and of course the all you can eat ice cream (he took advantage of that). If you have younger children, it is a must for Oceanaire's club. We were kind of wary to let him go by himself at first..but boy..it was pulling teeth to get him to come out. He always wanted to go back. He loved Star Wars, how to draw, and Toy Story theme areas. He made many friends there. Disney Castaway..what can you say. Bring your snorkel gear, find hidden treasures, swim, sunbathe, and enjoy such a relaxing time. Food is good. My son loved it. "Best time of his life." Cabin was nice, ok in size. We did a Veranda...we had spent only 10 minutes using it. Probably will skip out next time as we had spent 99% of our time exploring, in the pool, activities, and eating. You will almost never be in your room. We are not big cruise folks, we prefer hotels and site seeing but wow, we will definitely go back. We may go again this year. Read Less

I purchase a DisneyDream cruise December 28-31, 2018. It was a 3 days cruise. Our party had 2 children and 3 adults. All of us were expecting to have an enjoyable relaxing time. Oh, how wrong we were. Lets start with an entry to the ship. No one in the world told us that our cabins will be available at about 1:30-2:00 o'clock. We were scheduled to enter the ship at 12:00-12:15. Our suitcases were taken from us as we arrived to the ship. Since our cabins weren't available, we started exploring the ship. On 11th floor we found pools with some people swimming there. We could swim and enjoy time and sun while waiting. For us it wasn't so. We had no swimsuits with us. Since we had no access to our suitcases we couldn't enjoy that time and were bored till about 2 PM to get to our cabins. It is a long time specially for kids to stand and look at people who were aware about the situation and were prepared for it. It upset all of us. Food: I never ever tasted such untasted meals. I took several cruises and this cruise was most expensive and had most tasteless food I ever had. You can tolerate breakfast and lunch because it has a buffet, but not dinner. It seems to me it was prepared food, warmed up and given to us. I am wandering what ready food company this cruise was using, but there are certainly could be found tastier prepared food. We were hungry. On Bahamas, after paying for the cruise so much money we all went to the restaurant to have something in our stomachs. Oh, this is shameful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Entertainment: There was a schedule for characters to appear to be with kids, however all those scheduled characters were there to take a picture. No actually fun with kids. I expected that there would be a day to be scheduled for a tea party with princesses. Nope. I thought maybe, just maybe, I am missing some fun. Nope. All went according to the schedule and there was no schedule to have fun time with kids. Just some characters were walking, Peter Pan was hopping. No talking to/with kids, no song singing with kids. Just pictures, pictures and more pictures. My kids were registered to attend kids club. They went there once. My 8 years old wanted to get out of that place almost immediately. The 7 year old stayed, but was unhappy there. But they had fun playing in the pool, watching shows and movies (it was really good). For the money I payed it actually a real rip off and disgusting. My mother and father recently retired and both wanted to try a short cruise. I also have a 3 year old daughter who lives Minnie Mouse. I thought a Disney Cruise would be the perfect fit for all of us. I've been to Disney world in the past and thought it was wonderful and had heard amazing things about the cruise so I decided to book it for Christmas. Turns out this was the biggest mistake I've ever made. The staff that deals with boarding and disembarking the ship are rude and very unhelpful. The cruise itself was extremely overcrowded. You are shoulder to shoulder with people whenever traveling outside of your stateroom. There are no random character meetings as I was led to believe. For any character you want to see you have to stand in a line for upwards of 30 minutes, which is no fun for a 3 year old. I bought the picture package but then was told that I had to hunt down the photographers and that there was no guarantee they would be there at any of the character meetings, or dinners, or shows and that I should also be prepared to take my own pictures just in case. Needless to say after checking my portfolio on day 2 and having zero pictures in it I cancelled the package. The dining rooms are extremely boring for kids. There is no entertainment and the service is so slow every night that the 5:45 seating doesn't finish until 8:00 which leaves you rushing right to the shows. The shows are the only good thing, but get there early because the theater fills up and lines start forming well in advance. The food is also cold and disgusting. The kids club does have many activities, however the kids can only do them if parents leave them there. I was hoping to do that and have no some adult time, however the one time I left my daughter she came out with a huge bruise on her foot which they did not say anything about and couldn't answer to when I asked. The second time I attempted to drop her off I saw little children taking thick plastic buckets and pulling them all the way down over their faces which is clearly a suffocating hazzard. The staff there was just standing around talking to each other and ignoring what the kids were doing. Only when I yelled out to them that it was a danger did they tell the kids to take them off their heads. Needless to say I did not leave my daughter in their care. Read Less

We went on our first Disney cruise with out 18 month old just a week before Christmas (2018). We reached a day before and stayed in a hotel near the Canaveral port (about and hour from Orlando airport) . Word of advise: get an uber as they charge per person including a toddler under 2 for the shuttle so uber works out better with lesser wait time. Also you would have to get an uber with child seat due to the laws in Orlando. The cruise itself was fantastic. We intended to just relax since our child is too young for activities. However with so many food options, meet the Disney chars etc our first and 2nd day were busy but enjoyable as well. Please try and book activities via their app or before to avoid waits. The dinner was an experience in itself. We made friends with other dinner who were assigned on the same table as us for all 3 days. They also had a toddler. Our server made sure our kid was happy and got customized meal each time for her. She also got customized meal from the crew(authentic India food) for us. We did an excursion in Nassau. For the castaway island we decided to stay on ship and just wondered out for a bit. Nothing much to see with kids other than water sports. The cabins were cleaned and well maintained. I would recommend getting a balcony room. All in all we had a great experience and may want to go back. Read Less

It was a military family event, grands never been on a cruise. I wasn't gung ho on being on a Disney Cruise, I am well over that. For the kids though and for you Disney freaks , I must say it was worth what we paid. It's like the Magic Kingdom on steroids without the rides and on the water. Plenty of activities and characters all over the place. Kids entertainment area was awesome, something only Disney can pull off. The ship reminded me of the Grand Floridian Hotel. As a veteran cruiser(40 plus) I was a little disappointed with the quality of the food at the restaurants, no WOW factor there. The service all around was good, some better some worse . Would I do it again?...Only if my other grands go on their first time cruise. Otherwise The Granps will stick to the adult ships. Nassau we didn't get off as we have been there too many times. Castaway Cay was very good, nicely kept, plenty of chairs, kids area, and decent service.BBQ was great! Don't be shocked at the cruise prices though, typical Disney fashion , you want Mickey/Minnie you pay for it. Oh boy!!!! Read Less

A lot of neat things for kids to do. The Christmas activities were nice and the decorations were neat to see. The food was good and so was the service for the most part. I would say it is not any better the the Oasis though. Made it to the adults only area this trip so that was enjoyable. One note, the adult area of Castaway Cay has the best steaks so try that if you can. Disney has some of the biggest rooms which is great. Much bigger then we had on the Oasis. It was a three day cruise so it went way too fast. The biggest negative is the price. I got the 7 day Oasis for the same price as the 3 day Disney and I think the Oasis is a much better ship then the Dream. Read Less

Just returned from a 4-day Very Merrytime Bahamian cruise aboard the Disney Dream; this was our third cruise on the Dream and second using concierge. However this was our first 4-day cruise on Disney and compared to the 3-day, this cruise was packed with people. We were also celebrating 2 Birthdays. Although Disney cruises focus on kids, there are plenty of adult activities. The shows are top-notch; loved the Palo brunch; had fun playing the Midship Detective game; and the meet and greets with the various costumed actors was great. We did have a few hic-ups: our stateroom door stopped working on the first day right before the sail away party which we therefore missed (we enjoy this activity quite a bit). The repair took about an hour and was handled expertly; I do understand that things break. The second issue was with Senses: when buying our $170 Rainforest access pass, we were told there were a limited number of passes (80). Well, other than the first night, we weren’t able to use the hot-tubs or heated beds because of availability so apparently passes were not as “limited” as we were led to believe. Senses also provided a hair treatment (blow-out) and applied a “treatment” without discussing the price: what should have cost @ $65 was billed at $156. This up-charge was not approved but never-the-less charged. One positive with Senses was a $50 coupon given to 1 of the birthday ‘girls’ but it had expired the month prior to our sailing date. When the second birthday ‘girl’ asked for the coupon at Guest Services, she was told she had to have her birthday while on-board (her birthday was the day we got off the ship and therefore we were on-board). The other birthday was the day before we boarded so this explanation is wrong/inappropriate. Disney cruises are wonderful. However our experiences with Senses and Disney Guest Services was sub-par; no one’s birthday should be ignored and invalidated. Why did Disney not want to celebrate my daughter turning 25? Read Less
