We first decided to return to Carnival, after not sailing that line since 2007 (sailing RCCL and NCL) because I had reward points to redeem, giving me a pretty great deal. I booked it, keeping an open mind. As the year went on since booking it, I read some fabulous reviews, and began getting more and more excited. Let me tell you we were very pleasantly surprised. Carnival was 100% more fun than the other lines, totally living up to their slogan as the Fun Ships. Our CD was “Donkey”, and I can honestly say he was the best CD we ever had in all our cruises. The ship had entertainment galore, music happening everywhere, and we caught comedy shows nearly every night. Top it off with Dive In Movies out on Lido deck, was a great way to unwind at night. There were plenty of bars, but we loved the Red Frog Pub. The food was out of this world! Great grab-and-go choices for day, and the MDR food was always hot and tasty and varied. We had YTD, in Sapphire Dining Room on Deck 3 fwd, and requested Roxanne and Jenni every night as head waitress and assistant waitress. They were the best!! We were a little shocked at the buffet lines, though. We did not experience that on RCCL or NCL, as they were set up as “stations” that you just popped over to, but Carnival had a long line into their buffet, which pretty much kept us away from the buffet, unless we showed up at 7am when it opened, and most people were still sleeping. We ate at the Sea Day Brunch on both sea days, and loved it. We ate lunch every day at either Guys Burgers, Pig and Anchor BBQ, Blue Iguana Cantina, the Deli, our the Pasta Bar. All great choices, and helped us avoid the crazy buffet lines. That is one area Carnival needs to redesign and improve on. The other area that we disliked, was all the smoke in the casino. I thought smokers had to stay in a separate area, but they were everywhere, and it kept us out of casino most times. But all in all, Carnival deserved the high over all rating I gave it as it was a truly fabulous cruise, and excellent ship. Can’t wait for my next one! I have the Magic booked for my 50th Anniversary in 2020. This cruise was my 49th Anniversary celebration. Oh, BTW, we had FTTF, which I will buy hands down any time it’s offered. I loved that it took me only 10 minutes from hotel shuttle to seat in priority waiting area, then right on ship and to cabin before the huge masses board. FANTASTIC and worth every penny, in my honest opinion. Read Less

Traveled with a group of adult family members. Embarkation at Canaveral was very efficient. Staff on board were very friendly and helpful. Grand Turks and Puerto Rico were great ports. Amber Cove and St. Thomas were okay. Definitely visit Jack’s Shack in Grand Turks. Worth the walk. Explored the forts in Old San Juan PR which was really enjoyable and has some great views. Food on board was okay. Marketplace buffet on the Lido deck did not seem to have as many options as I’ve seen on other ships and the lines were always very long. Burgers were good, but again the line was always long. It was nearly impossible to get a chair up on deck to lay in the sun and bar service on deck was hit or miss. Ordered a few drinks that we never even got. Serenity area was always packed too so we could never get chairs together. Biggest complaint was that our cabin (deck 1) was directly over the crew lounge. Every night the staff had what sounded like very loud parties. We could hear yelling and very loud music from about midnight until 2-3 am. This made it impossible to sleep. We called multiple times to complain and they did eventually turn the music down but we could still hear the yelling and partying. We talked to guest services who did offer to move us mid week but all of our family was near us on deck 1 and we didn’t want to move away from them plus we had already been unpacked and settled in our room. My suggestion would be to avoid the even number cabins on deck one to hopefully avoid this noise. Read Less

This cruise was a sibling reunion - 5 brothers/sisters and spouses. We booked 5 oceanview rooms at the back of the boat, deck 2. It was wonderful to hear the hum of the engine as we slept and to see the wake, but be aware that when docking (and occasionally other times) there is a lot of engine noise. Our room steward (Silvana) was great! The rooms were clean and adequate. Walls and ceilings are magnetic, so bring magnetic clips! We sat at a large round table for dining and chose late dining (8:15). It was a bit later than we would have liked, but the early dining was too early. We loved our servers!! (Olga, I Madi and Widi). They made dining a highlight of the cruise. The food and selection was very good - much better than we expected! One comment (complaint actually) is that they have stopped putting tablecovers on except for formal nights, and the noise in the dining room is extreme - we couldn't talk to the people across the table from us! The entertainment was disappointing - not bad, per se, but lacking in variety and imagination. I'm not sure who they are catering to, but it didn't seem to be very popular with any group! Some cruises we have been on have had full broadway shows, cirque du soleil type acrobatics, professional ballroom dancers, music for all eras, lots of color and costumes, etc. The comedians were fine, the magician was okay - we never made it to the piano bar. The ship itself was clean and had nice amenities - fun mini golf and water slides and a nice outdoor theater, good hot tubs. The central atrium wasn't very exciting or beautiful. We had beautiful weather and wonderful stops, so all in all this was a great cruise. Read Less

We enjoyed our cruise, with the acception of a few details. Our waitress in the dining room was rude when we chose to eat at the buffet a couple of nights. The Hubb App was slow to get messages sent and did not work on group messages. Often it would take 15 minutes or more for the message to go through. We were told, as we were disembarking on the last day, that we could purchase pictures on line after we returned home. We are now home, and found out this information is inaccurate! We now have no pictures (taken by the photographers on board the ship) of our family group of 12. Very disappointing! Also, if you have small children, the Dive-in Movies are almost all rated PG-13 and not appropriate for children. This was disappointing, since our grandkids were looking forward to watching movies by the pool. The movie screen was also very poor quality. Read Less

This was our 6th cruise on 4 different cruise lines. We typically travel as a family group and this trip we had 5 rooms with individuals ranging from 17 to 70. THE GOOD: FASTER TO THE FUN It took just a few minutes to get on the boat and was well organized. Getting the tenders first was also good and if you need off the quickly you get priority as well but that means a 6:30am or 7:30am departure otherwise you have to wait for your deck. OUR ROOMS 10224, 10226, 10220, 10230 were 2 balcony rooms and 2 inside rooms and 12224 which was a spa balcony room. The rooms iincluding the inside rooms were a very good size. The rooms had nice storage space and the bathrooms were good size as well. We all felt the beds were comfortable and our family in the spa suite like the extra pool that was available to them. OUR ROOM Steward. Very accomidating and kept our rooms neat and tidy. ROOM SERVICE. Always timely DECK 5 CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST- there never seems to be many people and its super easy to get. Some of our group went everyday even though our rooms were on the Lido deck. COMEDY SHOWS- Overall we enjoyed them except that no one under 18 was admitted. STEAKHOUSE- We went as a group of 6 and the food was good. We had an ackward table in a back corner which made it difficult for the wait staff to serve the food/fill glasses/etc. PIG & ANCHOR- Nice BBQ. Great flavor. Some of the bark pieces were very very peppery. Nice assortment of sause. GUYS BURGERS- Good and busy. Great for a quick lunch. PIZZA ON DECK 10- Really good thin crust pizza. THE OK: ROOM FURNISHINGS-Getting to our room some items were missing and had to be asked for. Ice bucket, TV Guide, no room service menu, remote didn't work, etc. ROOM SERVICE PIZZA- Skip it and get the pizza from the back of the boat on deck 10. You'll pay $5 to have it delivered and its not as good, just OK. DINING ROOM BAR SERVICE- Our bar service in the dining room was ok. He called us by name and after a few days remembered what we liked to drink with dinner. COMMUNICATION- It seems like the cruise wants you to rely on their APP on your cell phone to figure out wants going on in addition to the daily flyer. There were few announcements about upcoming activities. ON BOARD SHOPS- Small but have the usual stuff. CASINO- OK Size have most of the newer penny games could be quite packed. BUFFET FOOD- Just ok. There is nothing special here but its quick and easy THE BAD: BEVERAGE STATIONS IN BUFFET- They need to have a different set up with the coffee and /juice and cups. Basically one person at a time can get coffee and juice. If the person ahead of you is getting juice and you want coffee you have to wait as there is no room. Quite often they are out of service or empty as well. DINING ROOM Service. Normally I look forward to dining in the main dining rooms. Its where our group of 10 gets together after spending the day apart and tells about our day. But what I look forward to is that feeling of being indulged. Geat food coupled with great service. There was none of that this trip. When we would get the the table promptly at 6 we would get handed a menu and asked what we wanted to order. It seemed like they expected us to have previewed the menu before dinner and be able to give an instant answer. Our waiter never introduced himmself, called us by name, or explained the menu items. GUEST SERVICES- We had some visa, mastercard, AMEX gift cards we wanted to apply to our balance and the guest services desk could not figure out how to do it. So a $50 gift card they charged $41. A $100 gift card they charge $80 to and did several pre-authorization on a well. I just expected that guest services would have been able to apply a payment to our account. THE UGLY: The SEAFOOD SHACK that you pay extra for at the back of the boat was awful. We got 2 platters which were mixed cod, clams, calimari, deep fried shrimp. These were all over cooked. There was so much grease on the cod fish it puddled on the platter. My son ordered the snow crab and instead got some realy small tan crabs. When they came out we reviewed with the worker that we wanted snow crab. He just kept saying this i crab and when we finally got him to understand it wasn't SNOW Crab he told us they were out. The little crabs were awful. First its going to take you hours to eat it since you get very little meat out of each piece. Then, the shell gets in the little bit of meat you get. NOT WORTH IT. The worker came by and asked us why we were not eating it. We explained it was awful and he just kind of shrugged. We went to guest services afterward to explain we were not excited about paying for those meals and they took our info and said someone would contact us. Apparently the chef called and spoke to another member of our party and kept the charge for the food but removed the gratuity charge. NOT A SATISFACTORY OUTCOME. SUCKS TO BE 17. Our youngest member was the only person under 18. We did not realize that the cruise would not allow him to go to the evening shows even when escorted by his parents. The crew gave him such a hard time the fisrt night we wanted to see the comedy club he ended up not coming to any late shows. That means he was left out of our groups after 9pm activities. He spent most evenings in his room or else someone else from our group kept him company. Read Less

This is our fourth cruise on Carnival and until this last cruise we've been VERY satisfied. We took our two daughters with us to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary, and my sister and her husband surprised us and sailed with us as well. We all had Balcony cabins, but the cabins looked VERY used. Given the price difference, I had expected better quality accommodations. We booked early enough to secure the early dinner seating, but were told that they were sold out. When my sister and her husband attempted to get late seating so that we could dine together, they were told maybe tomorrow. We all ate at the buffet. The food in the Main dining room was very good, and our waiters were WONDERFUL. The buffet, however, was TERRIBLE. It was like eating at the "FREE buffet at Circus, Circus in Reno at midnight." We tried the Sushi Restaurant one night but were disappointed. They do not have Soy Wraps and have a very limited selection. My daughter ordered Chocolate covered strawberries and Champagne for our Anniversary, but the Strawberry stems were wilted and they looked very old. The entertainment was really awful, with the exception of the comedian, Eddie Clark, who was completely entertaining and wonderful. I had bragged about the wonderful entertainment on Carnival ships, but ate a little crow on that one... The embarkation and debarkation were handled very well. I love to give great reviews, but believe in being honest. I would never recommend cruising Carnival again until they get back to focusing on fun AND quality food, entertainment, etc. Read Less

I picked this cruise because of an attractive cruisefare and the fact that the ship embarked only a two hour drive from my house in Florida. Boarding was very easy and quick and we were able to get in our cabin within one hour of being on board. Went to the buffet for lunch and found an ample variety of food offers and plenty of open seating. Food was very good sampling of American style dishes. We found plenty of organized activities onboard and nightly shows. Movies on the upper deck also. Standard dining rooms offered decent food with many choices. Lobster night was great. We tried the upcharge Italian restaurant, the steakhouse, and the sushi restaurant. All three were great and worth the upcharge. Very many shore excursions at various ports and my wife and granddaughter took several and enjoyed them. All in all a good cruise up until the Saturday we left the ship. We felt queasy once we debarked off of the ship but thought it was just us getting our landlegs back. Sunday morning it got worse with an added headache for my wife and I and associated bathroom problems. We went to the doctor on Monday and were told that we both had the flu which due to the fact that we were on the ship all week must have been contracted there. Like I said a good cruise but the follow up week has been terrible. Read Less

The Carnival Breeze is basically the floating version of Guy Fieri: Loud, obnoxious, garish, overstuffed and cheap. After a decade in use, the Breeze needs to be dry docked and spruced up -- it's showing its age. The smoking areas are WAY too big and poorly positioned. The casino is right in the middle of the ship and is basically a poison cloud. Lots of lunch options on the Breeze. The Guy Fieri burger bar is actually decent, but I refuse to visit Flavortown on principle. Blue Iguana is OK, not great, and the same goes for Pizza Pirate. The Guy Fieri Pig and Anchor BBQ is utter trash, but then again, what fool thinks you can smoke meat effectively in the middle of the ocean? Mongolian BBQ and pasta bar are generally the two best bets for lunch. Food in the main dining room has been declining for years and is now largely terrible -- underseasoned, steam table junk that often arrives at room temp. Servers are still great but seem much more overworked. Your only other dinner options are the steak house (pretty good, but difficult to book a table); the Lido Buffett (lousy and crowded with kids and people who don't know how to behave in public); the Seafood Shack (you pay full price, essentially, for mediocre crab legs and bad lobster rolls) and the Italian restaurant, which is hit or miss. One of Carnival's biggest problems, I hate to say, is its clientele. At this price point, you're getting a LOT of drunks and people with atrocious/non-existent manners. I'm talking about yelling at service staff over trivial things, cutting in line, coughing without covering mouths etc. I know, you're probably dismissing me as some kind of snob -- but this was my 6th Carnival cruise, so my proletariat credentials are rock solid. I'm not saying Carnival should target the Vichyssoise and formal dance program set, but it would be nice if 25-percent of the ships guests weren't riding mobility scooters and stuffing next month's disability check into the slot machine. Entertainment was brutal. I did appreciate the fact that the woman who emceed "Friends Trivia" was so obvious in her contempt for us. Her sarcasm and dripping disdain for the ship's guests was an interesting contrast to the humble, ingratiating service offered by everyone else. It PROBABLY has something to do with the fact that she's American and doesn't rely on passenger gratuities for support her entire family. Cabin was clean and our steward was great. Service, in general, is usually very good on Carnival ships. It's unfortunate that so many cheap people assume that because the gratuities are built it, it absolves them from and further tipping. If you can't afford to give your main dining room servers or cabin steward a bonus at the end of the cruise -- bare minimum -- then you can't afford to cruise. Carnival does need to adjust its gratuity system, however, It makes zero sense to have a tip line for the cashier at the candy store (who does nothing except ring you out) and no tip line for the staff at the jewelry store (who spend a lot of time advising guests on purchases). I'd suggest tipping in cash rather than adding it to your receipt, as there is no guarantee that the tip actually goes to the person serving you. Port Canaveral has embarkation down to a science, but debarkation is only smooth if you're at the bottom of the boat. If you're at the top, you might have to wait hours until your floor is called. Would I sail the Breeze again? I can't rule it out entirely. If I suffer some kind of temporary amnesia -- or if Guy Fieri agrees to be my personal room steward and cabin butler -- I might agree. I loved this ship! The captain let us all know what's going on for weather and was very peasant! Staff was very nice! I gave this a 4 because overall food was just okay. Dessert bar was great though. Shows were the same 70/80's. They need something different. Dancers and singers were amazing and the best I've heard yet! My balcony cabin was super clean and staff was very friendly and talkative! Even reminded us to take sunscreen due to the sun! Played in the casino almost every night. Not really a big gambler but was on vacation so why not. I give the casino staff from the bartenders to waitstaff to the casino host a AAAAAAAA+++++++! They took time to chat and were so very friendly! I also tried the Chef's Table! $95 a person which came to $112 a person after gratuities! By far the best experience ever! The chef and assistants were just top notch amazing! They really wanted to know how everything was and wanted feedback. This experience lasted for 3 hours with an amazing tour of the kitchen. We also saw the famous melting chocolate cake being made! At the end we received a picture of the chef and our whole table plus received the receipt of the cake! Getting off and on the ship was very easy and organized! We did have to wait a bit just because there were so many people getting off. Did a shore excursion through carnival! Again, very organized with letting us know were to be at a certain time so we could go off the ship together. Overall great cruise!! Its a beauty of a ship and you can tell staff care as at almost every island we stopped at the crew would be cleaning and panting the outside!! Read Less

It had been about 7 years since we sailed on Carnival, and we wanted to give it another try since we had been sailing on Royal Caribbean. The food in the main dining room and buffet (marketplace) was exceptionally awful! We had sent entrees back 2 and 3 times only for the quality to be the same, fish, chicken, beef, and pork overcooked and dried out. Unfortunately the same selection and quality was being served in the Marketplace. Many passengers had plates of unsatisfactory food selections piled up on there table to be discarded and guests went away hungry! We got satisfaction by speaking directly to the Head Chef who had our meals prepared special by the chef responsible for the main dining! The Piano Bar left a lot to be desired. I firmly believe in the attitude of "live and let live" as long as you don't interfere with my life. However, the entertainer in the Piano Bar who performed just steps away from the children's lounges was changing lyrics and using expletives and unacceptable phrases alluding to male and female genitalia to the cheers of the crowd assembled there. My only objection is that if a performer was going to cater to a particular segment of the population who enjoys this, it should be held in a venue which is closed off and not within earshot of children and the rest of the guests who wish not to be exposed to this.
