We just got back from a 7 day cruise on the Getaway. When I was researching I didn’t see many Getaway reviews and wanted to give my 2 cents. This is our 4th NCL cruise. We have gone on the Sky, the Epic twice and now the Getaway.
First off, yes its a big ship, with lots of people, if you don't like people or want a smaller quite spot this is not the ship for you. The same would go for the ...
We have been a pretty loyal Royal Caribbean customer but since our last boat had terrible food and lame entertainment, we decided to try the Getaway. First off the cabin size compared to Royal was awesome. We had a regular oceanview room and it was so spacious. Second, the food was soooo much better than Royal in all venues. Not one bad meal. Third, the entertainment and selection of bars, ...
The cruise was advertised through Expedia and included 2 ports I was interested in visiting: Belize and Roatan. The price seemed a good deal for time of year and we chose a balcony cabin 13th floor aft.
We flew in to Miami and took a cab to the cruise terminal. Check-in moved quite smoothly and we were placed in a rather dingy room to await boarding. As we were early this took a while and there ...
We just returned from a week in the Haven on the Getaway and it's hard to get back to reality!
We are yearly cruisers, mostly using NCL but have also cruised Royal Caribbean, Carnival, and Celebrity. Picked this cruise and Haven to celebrate my wife's birthday. We had a 2BR suite on the 15th deck.
Embarkment - Good, but not great. We had high expectations for Haven embarkation, but the ...
I chose this cruise to check out the single cabins that Norwegian is not offering. This was my first cruise with Norwegian and my first cruise in a number of years. I drove to the cruise port and easily dropped off luggage and parked in the (Expensive) on pier lot. Security was very fast and after I discovered that I had left something in my car, I was able to exit and return without any issue. ...
We picked this cruise because it fit our schedules and offered incentives. One of which was the ultimate beverage package. Apparently it only covers up to $10 per drink. Most drinks were $10+ and the remainder added to your account. Bottled water was extra and there were no self serve soda fountains or large cups. One of our bartenders, Lily was amazing!
Our mini suite smelled like B.O. when we ...
We chose this cruise because I'd always heard good things about Norwegian Cruise Lines and we liked the ports of call for this trip - slightly different than the "usual" Caribbean stops.
The ship was amazing - beautiful, massive yet not overwhelming, clean. There were so so many different settings all on one ship (i.e. different types of bars, restaurants, entertainment)!
At any given ...
Hi everyone. We are experienced cruisers and enjoy various lines. Had not cruised NCL in 2 years but decided we liked the Getaway itin for this particular week.
Got to FL on Saturday and stayed at the Marriott on the bay--along with many other cruisers on the 6 ships that were in port that Sunday.
Got to the port around 11:15am via Uber from the hotel. Went through security and then ...
This was our first cruise on Norwegian and my wife and I were pleasantly surprised. We have cruised before with other cruise lines and have high expectations. The entertainment was outstanding. The best we have seen on any cruise line so far. The food was excellent. We did not dine in any of the specialty dining venues. There was no need to. We did experience some inconsistency in the dining room ...
Having previously been on Royal Caribbean’s Mega Ships (Oasis & Allure) and also with Carnival, this was our first time trying out Norwegian. We chose it because of the Western Caribbean itinerary and because the ship “Getaway” was fairly new. Overall, we were disappointed with our experience as we expected better.
NEGATIVE:
• The food was only ok, and it appeared that they offered the ...
