Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Viking Star

This is our second Viking ocean cruise. The ship is wonderful, the service and food are top notch, the rooms plenty spacious. The staff is great .. always smiling and greeting us everywhere we went. The on-board entertainment was excellent, and the lectures associated with the history of the sites we visited were well done. The tour guides were true experts and provided much insight on the land, ...

Ship is beautiful, cabins well maintained and serviced by friendly and efficient staff. Tours are very well organized and set so that you know what tours you are scheduled for before setting sail. Food is one of the most important attributes of a great cruise. Viking has failed to deliver in the main dining room, specialty restaurants and the buffet. Classic dishes were poorly made. Often ...

A 15 days ocean cruise “Cities of Antiquity & the Holy Land” on the Viking Star, we chose this cruise for the countries and ports: Greece, Greek Islands, Israel and Italy. At each port Viking had an included (free) or optional excursion (paid), the excursions were well organized and guides were very informative and knowledgeable on the sites visited. The Viking Star is the second of the ocean ...

We went on this cruise because friends invited us to join them. We had never traveled in the Mediterranean before so we were excited to go. Viking made everything easy and all the staff was so friendly and helpful. There were no worries getting to and from the airport. The excursions were all interesting with great guides.Even though everything was wonderful, I especially liked seeing ...

Disappointing

This was our first cruise and a retirement dream trip. We chose Viking because of their high ratings and the fact that most everything was included. About 5 days into a 14 day cruise my husband became very ill along with several others. At least 2 ( that we know of) were taken off the ship, and hospitalized in the closest locations. My husband was cleared to travel home but it took about a week ...

We were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary and attest that this was our best vacation ever! Congratulations to the entire Viking crew who were very accommodating, friendly, and informative. We are now Viking fans and will continue to make Viking our "go to" venue. The entertainment, as well as the tours, were first class and well worth the cost of the cruise. We particularly ...

The trip of a lifetime

We were supremely pampered, overfed, entertained, and educated. Any of the destinations would have provided an excellent reason to book this cruise -- the antiquity of Athens, Jerusalem, and Rome, the beauty and quaintness of Mykonos and Rhodes, the bustle of the cities, the grandeur of the wine-dark sea, the towering cliffs overlooking pristine beaches. Even when the weather prevented us ...

Previous Viking cruise was great so we tried them again, and once again it was great. From Venice to Athens with stops in Split, Kotar, Dubrovhik and Corfu before reaching Athens. Included shore excursions were excellent and the optional ones were well worth the cost. The effeiciency of the crew in handling embarking and disembarking is top notch. The dining options are all excellent and the ...

We had previously taken a river cruise with Viking & were very happy with all aspects of the cruise. The tours & tour guides were exceptional. The food was very good. Choice of restaurants just right for us. The wine selections were not very good. Since we only drink one glass of wine with dinner we did not up grade to the package. We do not drink at other times & felt it was not worth the money. ...

Beautiful ship, wonderful ports

Beautiful ship!! So many places on board to sit and gather with other fellow travelers. Included tours were wonderful. We enjoyed the view from our veranda many times, sailing into and out of port. (especially Venice!) Dining room had no appointed seating times, you arrive during the serving hours, and are seated as you wish. Nice variety on the menu. Service was pretty slow and impersonal ...
