Star Clippers (Star Flyer) Cruise to Italy & Greece

Review for a Italy Cruise on Star Clipper

Taking a Star Clippers cruise is about being on a true sailing vessel. If you like to sail, this is your ship. Our trip to Italy and Greece was amazing. We spent a day exploring Rome on our own and then took the train to Civitavecchia (make sure you take the bus from the train station....walking doesn't work) where we boarded our ship. It is breathtaking because it's a sailing ship that is ...

I worked 2-man fishing boats in my teens. Sailing ship (4 masts) lacks stabilizers and i was seasick all eleven days. Don't take opiate pills they offer. Food is excellent and plentiful. Soups and Indonesian food outstanding, cheeses served at their best. Wet landings ashore. We skipped the ones that required transfer to tender followed by second transfer to zodiac. Passengers need be ...

We're experienced small ship cruisers, but this was our first time on this type of ship. In brief, we had a really enjoyable time, and would highly recommend the experience. Being under sail is, as my wife put it, absolutely magical. First the positives. We were in cabin 505, on the main deck, port side, forward. The cabin is compact, but very comfortable, and well thought out in terms of ...

It is all about the Ship

Do not go on Star Clippers if you need pampering or entertaining. It is all about the ship, which is beautiful in itself but when under sail transcends the ordinary. Siting on deck at night, under the stars with a drink and the "one you love" is worth every penny and all the effort of getting to our pick up point in Phuket. As has been said in other reviews, the food is excellent but the ...

First cruise on tall ship

I've been on many (30+) cruises over the years including small ships like Wind Star and even chartered catamarans. But never on a tall ship or a cruise in Asia. My main concerns were boredom, ship to shore transportation and sea sickness. It turned out no issues with any of the concerns. People ask why I picked this cruise. It was mainly a good price, location and timing. This cruise was price ...

We never sailed on a star clipper. We wanted to end our Asia trip with the relaxing cruise. We boarded in Phuket Easley with no problem. We were shown to our cabin in the rear of the ship. We chose one of the cheapest rooms. This room however was very tiny and had one tiny closet for two . We decided not to unpack most of our stuff. Bathing suits a couple of coverups undergarments and some dress ...

Chose this cruise because we wanted a proper sailing adventure and did not want a large floating hotel, - and It was just fabulous ! We enjoyed every single minute of this voyage. Yes - the cabins are quite "cosy" , but they have everything you need. The crew were all very friendly and professional. The food on board was superb, and we met some lovely people from all over the world. Some of ...

I choose this cruise because the vessel is small , she sails , and has an appealing destination : Thailand. My rating : I give one star for the very good looking of the ship on pictures and a second star for the food. What we did not like : I. General lack of comfort : * starting from the early beginning in the welcome room in Phuket, * the boat tender access is complicated and ...

Having been before on the Star Clipper we liked the format and knew what to expect - good quality cabin, great choice of food and plenty of it. Most of all that great feeling as the sails are hoisted to the stirring sound of Vangelis' Conquest of Paradise. Oh dear, seems the owner has instructed that the stirring music be relegated to background music thus destroying the magic that so many ...

The sailing adventure through Thailand was excellent. The food was great! You have 4 choices for your entree for dinner. The wine selections are also excellent. The crew is nice and helpful. Water sports are available at most port stops. The itinerary was great - not touristy! The passengers were 95% Europeans, mostly Brits and Germans. Everyone was a well traveled adult - average ...
