We enjoyed a smaller ship with less passengers and better yet no kids running around. We could always find a quiet corner to read or to relax. There was plenty of food. We picked this cruise because of its itinerary - "In the Wake of the Vikings" - a northerly transatlantic crossing, and we had to book it a year and a half in advance because it's only offered once a year. (Although, we found out later that a 2nd Viking ship trailed this same itinerary by several days - so much for Viking's communications - more on that.)

We chose the cruse base on a recommendation from a friend. The Ship was nice but I felt I was at a retirement home. Made more connections with the crew them shipmates. Everyone seemed to be on Valium.

We did two Viking river cruises and we were very pleased with the entire experience and especially the quality of the tours and the knowledge and deportment of the tour guides. We have also taken a number of Caribbean cruises with other cruise lines. The Viking ports of call were second rate and the tours were very disappointing.
