We were pleasant surprised by the staff, the service and the food at the Zuiderdam.
The food was very good, and they had a good selection daily. We also ate at the Pinnacle Grill and it was as always an excellent choice. I won't recommend anyone to go to the Canaletto, that was a joke all together. The food was very bad and bland, the staff have no idea about Italian food and less knowledge about ...
I haven't cruised with Holland America since 2006, so I hardly knew what to expect this year. Meanwhile, I had cruised with Royal Caribbean, Princess, MSC and Celebrity, with the latter being my favorite. However, the Nieuw Amsterdam is my new favorite and HAL is my current favorite cruise line.
The pros: Exquisite food, especially in the Pinnacle Grill and Tamarind; excellent service; friendly ...
This was my third Holland America cruise. They continue to provide an excellent experience with clean and comfortable cabins, good food, well-trained and friendly staff, enjoyable entertainment in the lounges, interesting shore stops, etc. Some room for improvement: We felt misled about the Wifi access; we bought a package of minutes but quit using it mid-week because it was so slow that it was ...
We have cruised HAL many times. After this cruise we both noted that service and shipboard life have slipped.
Embarkation was good....lines moved, on board and into our balcony cabin in no time. We had been on the Noordam once before and she is in good shape. Learned that she is going into drydock in February for an update...wish i checked on that prior to booking. But the ship was clean. Things ...
Happy New Year Fellow Cruisers!
I have never written a review before, although I certainly have read many of them, so please forgive me if I don't use the proper term or structure here.
We have been on many, many cruises through the years starting in 1963 on a four day voyage from Miami to Nassau to Freeport on the old SS Florida. Since we are retired and live in Naples, Fl, we are fortunate to ...
It has been ten years since we last sailed with Holland America although we have been on over twenty-five cruises with other lines since then, predominantly Celebrity. The size of this ship was the immediate draw, having a promenade that completely encircled the ship.
Embarkation was quick until we were about to board the ship and encountered the "picture line" which had everyone standing in line ...
We had heard that the food on the Holland cruises was very good. Check. Lots of options, beautifully presented and spot-on services in the dining rooms. We were fortunate to have a waitstaff that was extraordinary - attentive, of good cheer, and always trying to please.
Be warned, however, as we had heard as well, this is an "older" group of cruisers - generally 60's, 70's and 80's. The ...
As a 4-Star Mariner of the HAL company, I have had the opportunity to sail on many of the ships in this fleet and can honestly say that I was completely pleased with this ship and her company on the sailing from Valparaiso to Buenos Aires. The informative lectures kept the days interesting and the Activities Director did a fabulous job of keeping things entertaining! The staff were very friendly ...
The embarkation was seamless, except our wine were taken from our bags which is ok we paid the corkage and were on our way. nice suite cabin stewarts were exceptional and helped keep our vacation on course. we had a few problems in the dining room however, our table on the first night wasnt great but that was quickly corrected and we were grateful, food was good really enjoyed the pinnacle grill ...
My wife and I along with our two sons booked two cabins on this ship. When we first got aboard, the ship seems to be at least 10 years out of date. It is musty and even dank in come places. The buffet on the ninth deck was mediocre and it seemed at times to be like feeding the pigs. It was every man for him/her self.
The cabin was small and cramped. The drill before sailing was tedious and ...
