This was our 3rd Viking cruise and the first for the ship, Viking Nord. A beautiful vessel but with some design flaws, for example, the hangers would not fit in the closet unless they were turned at an angle due to a 'bump out" in the back of the closet. With space a premium on a river cruise, especially in a French Balcony cabin. BTW, Viking did not tell us that there are no chairs in this class of cabin;no where to sit except on the bed or on a footstool(with no back). And, the bathroom is designed so that the glass wall to the cabin can be made transparent. Why??? the bathroom is an improvement over their older ships.

The major issue with the cruise was communication. For example,the hotel staff could not tell us where we were going and when. The itinerary that we were sent had all the correct ports just not in the order that we visited them. And, since this was the last week or so of the tulip season, why wait until the end of the cruise to visit Keukenhof Gardens? And, if Viking truly wanted all 180+ passengers to gather in the lounge for shows, lectures, demonstrations, etc. why have only seating for about 130 of us? Major design flaw on the longships. The cabin TV has a feature to list the weather and the next port. For 8 days it showed our first stop in Kinderdijk. Why? the staff did not know.

The restaurant manager, chef, and wait staff were sensational! Can not say enough good things about the meals, the attentiveness, and the friendliness of all involved with the restaurant. Read more
