Drove ourselves to the Hula Daddy Coffee Plantation. It was wonderful. It is small and they were genuinely glad to show us their operation that they are so proud of. The coffee is great and the views are almost as good.

Kona (Kailua Bay)

Drove ourselves. Wow, what a reverent, well maintained memorial. It was a privilege and honor. Met a couple of PH vets and some Aggies from Texas A&M who were working for CINCPAC for the summer!

Drove ourselves. Wow, what a special place. Another venue that could, and was, overrun by crowds, but now is well managed and recovering to it's pristine natural state. Great snorkeling for beginners like us or for anyone really. Come early, access is closely controlled. When we left at 10 am the gates were already closed.

Drove ourselves. Great Ship in great shape. They were redoing some of the teak decking so it was a little dusty in places. A USS Ohio class SSBN was brought into port while we were on board the Missouri. What a treat. The access to the ship is not very friendly to the elderly though. Also the support buildings are not on a par with the ship. They seem to be temporary and a little run down.

Drove ourselves. Wow, what they have done with the place for visitors is amazing. The grounds are beautiful, the museums are small and informative, the shops are discreet, and everything is run like clockwork. We made reservations a month or so in advance and walked right in.

Drove ourselves. Beautiful and way less crowded than Honolulu. When we go back we will spend more time on the North Shore

This was a good tour but the real benefit was the convenience or leaving the ship with no concerns about baggage, or what to do for the day, or transfers to the airport. Ernel Smith, of the old Hawaiian Smith family, our driver, was very knowledgeable and lots of fun. Lunch at the Kualoa Ranch, a working beef ranch, was fair but filling. After a stop at the Dole Plantation (YUM) we were dropped off right in front of the terminal entrance and wanted for nothing all day long.

Drove ourselves. What a beautiful place with photo ops everywhere. Well worth a side trip. Not crowded at all. Sort of off the beaten path but close.

Drove ourselves. Lahaina is a beautiful and well maintained little town with great shops and sights. The huge Banyan Tree is unbelievable! We were back to the ship in time for lunch. Hilo Hatties is the place for good quality gifts and clothes. Not crowded in Lahaina like Hilo and Honollu.

Drove ourselves. What a great drive in a small car. I don't know how the buses do it. It was fun to drive and the sights are magnificent! Leave early and take a bite to eat. There is very little along the way to spoil the natural state of the route.

Wife flew it in a Safari Helicopter and the girls and I drove it. Spectacular from both vantage points. We got closer to the calderas but she got to see the lava down inside. Part of the circle road was closed but plenty was open.

Drove ourselves to Kahuluu Beach for a snorkeling rendezvous with Green Sea Turtles and tons of flashy fish. Great area for beginners and others. Easy in and out and quite large. Lots of folks but not crowded at all.

The Plantation, the Train Ride, and the Kalamaku Luau were all very good. It was quite crowded but with the exception of leaving after the luau it was handled very well. The food was good but the show was the high point of the evening. Leaving was just a mad dash to the buses. ARG!

Drove ourselves to the Fern Grotto Cruise. The river and the grotto were beautiful and worth the trip. However, the marina and the boats were more than a bit run down.

Drove ourselves to what might be the highlight of the whole week. Waimea Canyon is spectacular enough in itself but then when you drive on a little further and look down on the Na Pali Coast, it becomes indescribable!

11011, our first inside cabin on a cruise was just fine. It was a little small but clean, well appointed, and had storage aplenty for 2 or 3. It would be a stretch for 4. We still prefer a view but, no real complaints.

It was a very good tour and we were dropped off right at the terminal for our uneventful but reluctant trip back to Texas.We had dinner the first night at Vit's Steakhouse and it was good enough that we went back for brunch Saturday morning on the way to the ship.
