We sailed on the Disney Wonder and I can't tell you what a wonderful experience we had. We arrived in Port Canaveral around 1:00 (we had been staying in Disney World and were bussed from that point). Check in was a breeze (providing that you had all of your documents completed, which you should do at home) and we were up at the Beach Blanket Buffet eating lunch by 1:30. Food was plentiful and very tasty.
We had an ocean view stateroom, and I can tell you that our window was large (not just a tiny porthole). We watched the ship sail away, and then got ready for dinner.
We had early seating, which means either 5:45, 6:00 or 6:15, which they just changed to in order to avoid everyone coming to dinner at 6:00. I can't tell you how great our server and assistant server were (JoJo and Evandro). They made us feel welcome, and above all they treated our 10 year old daughter like she the most special child on board. They teased her and did magic tricks and napkin folding with her. She giggled the entire time (in fact she cried all the way home, because she was going to miss them so much!).
The food was outstanding. I don't know why people complain so much. There is always something for everyone and it was always hot and tasty, after all, you are on vacation and any food that you don't have to cook should be a treat. After the first night, they knew what we wanted to drink, and we never had to ask for it again.
Nassau -- We took the Blackbeard's Cay snorkel and stingray adventure an had a great time. Stingrays were plentiful and we couldn't get our daughter out of the water. Lunch was so-so (included in the cost of the excursion). There was also a limbo dancer who was awesome. Did a little shopping afterward - be warned they attempt to get you to buy anything and everything and you have to be firm and say "no thank you" and just walk away.
Castaway Cay -- My husband went parasailing (he had fun, although it is kind of costly), we also took a banana boat ride, which ran out of gas, but we had fun, and we rented the snorkel equipment and floats, which we used a lot because it was warm and sunny. Hint-not everyone in your party needs to get the rental package, we all did (3 of us) and we would have only needed to rent 1 or 2, as we were not all in the water at the same time.
Last day at sea was gorgeous, we just walked around, sat in the sun, etc. The shows were awesome (even my husband said so, and he isn't one to enjoy stage shoes). The characters were out all of the time, however sometimes the lines were long to get pictures and autographs.
This was the best vacation we ever took. The ship was splendid, the service outstanding and the food was wonderful! We are looking forward to booking a 7 day cruise in the near future.
Debarkation was so easy. We had an early breakfast, got in line to get off the ship, found our luggage, went through customs, check in curbside by the Disney Cruise busses, and was at the Orlando airport by 9:30. Anyone with any questions may certainly email me.
