The Sapphire Princess presents a great way to cruise the west coast. A nice 7 day trip to SF. Santa Barbara, San Diego, Ensenada. The Sapphire is a beautiful ship that although carries a large amount of passengers we never felt cramped at all. Utilizing "anytime dining", we never waited longer than 10 mins (only that long once!) for a table. They seemed to be very relaxed on bringing your own wine onboard (ok, there is a corkage fee), so bring your own if that's important. Their wine selection is good, but not exceptional. Perhaps that's different on longer trips.
Movies Under the Stars was wonderful-kind of like a drive in but with blankets and nearby fresh goodies to watch recently released movies. Definitely kid friendly in so many ways as well. Have the kids take the baking/cake decorating class. Parents are welcome and everyone has a blast. The pictures they take are expensive (like around $24 each 8x10). Memorable, but bring your own camera-someone can always snap your picture & the price is right. The gym onboard is big, but found that quite a few machines were not working....strange. If you're doing the adult-only thing, the Sanctuary is quiet and peaceful...but they charge for this area! Don't agree with that policy!
Overall, a great inexpensive trip (they're running these instead of weekly Mexico runs which are more costly and with the issues down in Mexico, Princess finds the coastals to be a good way to utilize the ships). Just go and enjoy!
Love the Balcony rooms but will go mini suite for more room next time!
