Sail Date: Feb 2014

We took our second cruise on Disney Dream for the altered itinerary for Caribbean (Nassau, day at sea, Castaway Cay). As others have noted Disney is a bit more expensive but the staff, service and overall experience is worth the extra cost. Things are well communicated, organized and thought out.

the only negatives we have to report are that the ship is a bit weathered. There was a lot of maintenance ongoing from painting to varnish to fixing leaks in the Aqua Duck, etc. there is clearly a lot of wear and tear and we saw the same all over the ship from the cabins to the deck chairs, to the furniture in the dining rooms to the carpet in the atrium. It may be time for Disney to invest in some "downtime" for the Dream to get her "spiffed-up" and back to proper form. We sailed exactly 1 year ago and I can tell you that there was definitely a change to the condition of everything noted above. The other negative was the food. Generally not bad. We were in the second seating so I think that we sometimes got food which had been pre-prepared and then sitting for the 2nd seating - so everything was very dry and overdone. the kids enjoyed the Clubs immensely and also the 24 hour ice cream machines and the choices at Cabanas for breakfast and lunch. The shows were also just OK. the comedian and ventriloquist we had was much more adult oriented and not a big hit with the kids and the Golden Mickeys and Believe were re-runs from the shows we saw last year - disappointing.

Overall - an excellent cruise. nice ports of call and Castaway Cay is a fantastic location. The crew and staff are awesome and make up in many ways for the issues noted above.

Cabin Review

Cabin was on Deck 9. As noted above, the room was adequate and well designed but very "used". the curtains were torn, did not close. the carpet and furniture was stained and worn and the showerhead was corroded and required maintenance while we cuirsed because it did not function properly. We were next to a connected cabin which was full to the brim with kids so that was a little noisy, but otherwise a very comfortable cabin and bedding.
