We have sailed on Virgo many times over the years but not for 18 months so we were interested to see what if anything had changed. Embarkation was as usual, you need patience but you get on in a reasonable time. We had a balcony cabin on deck 9 and it had been upgraded with a nice big TV, new carpet etc and new bed mattress, although it was rock hard. The ship is still beautiful and the main foyer area is spectacular with the bright colours and the gold horses. As the ship is relocating to Hong Kong some changes have been made the main being the removal of our favourite place the Bellini Bar although there is a small bar off to the side now and some seating where the band use to play. High end shops have replaced the bar and other shops have been upgraded for the new market. Bella Vista is still a wonderful restaurant and the staff great however the food quality if reasonable at best, although OK. The buffet is a no go zone for us, too busy and out of control with limited selection and seating. There is a first in best seated policy on the deck 8 section of the theatre so you need to get there early as we did. Poker machines are still in the sides of Galaxy of the Stars which is a shame as its a fantastic area to relax and have a drink etc. As usual the staff were great and very friendly and helpful with some outstanding.
Overall a nice short cruise on a lovely ship, which we enjoy as we completely understand that the ship is operating in Asia for the Asian market, and we enjoy the diverse groups and cultures on board. The shows were high energy and great and were the bands and artists. Disembarking was the usual mad dash but again you need patience and stand your ground in the lines, which is all part of the experience.
