This was the first experience of river cruising for my wife and myself, and in general it was a positive one. Certainly the standard of service in terms of food, facilities and crew were up to expectation, and whilst our cabin was on the small side, never the less it provided all amenities that we required .It was also maintained to the highest level by our room maid.

In terms of the cruise itinerary , the embarkation point in Nuremburg did not provide the most positive first impression and the first 24 hours on the canal became somewhat boring. However the remainder of the itinerary was excellent and the standard of guide on the port tours was first class and the final destination of Budapest was a spectacular sight.

Our main complaint however was in the flight arrangements made on our behalf by Viking - who have failed to respond to a direct complaint. In particular we were at loss to understand why our flight home was routed via Frankfurt, involving a fairly stressful transfer, whilst all other passengers flying to London were on direct flights. Coming at the end of the holiday, this did leave quite a negative impression.
