Our cruise with Viking from Amsterdam to Budapest was top-notch from beginning to end. The accommodations, the food, the tours, the on-board entertainment, and the service made each day pure enjoyment. We liked that there were no set tables for meals (we got to make more friends!), and that all drinks were provided for lunch and dinner without charge. We liked that water and umbrellas were available for our tours, and that the tour guides were knowledgeable and engaging. We liked the radios and receivers that were provided for the tours. We were very happy with the convenience of the places we docked for going ashore.

We were somewhat uncomfortable with not having enough comfortable chairs and tables in the lounge for all passengers to sit during after dinner gatherings and presentations. Sometimes we had to sit where we could not see the projection screens, and sometimes, even though we could see, there was no place to set a drink down in the temporary extra rows of seats.

We had difficulty convincing the hotel concierge at the Móvenpick Hotel prior to boarding the ship that we had special permission for transfer of our luggage to the ship since our stay at the hotel was not arranged by Viking, even though our travel agent cleared that with the cruise line ahead of time, but a call to the Viking office fixed the problem.

Cabin Review

Cabin with balcony

The cabin was roomy, and had ample storage areas. Sometimes the toilet did not flush immediately, but eventually it did. The lighting was ingenious and convenient. The bed was comfortable.
