We are regular Silversea cruisers, and we decided on Uniworld based in part on reviews but also because they started an all-inclusive program this year. It was our first river cruise, and it was very enjoyable at all levels.

The crew was exceptionally attentive and engaged. The food was very good, and very fresh. Unlike ocean liners which can freeze their food supply for weeks, river ships rely on buying fresh produce at several ports of call, and the quality was noticeable. All the liquor was premium brands, and the wines were above average.

We opted for a suite, and we are glad we did. River ships ( for the Rhine, Main and Danube) must navigate hundreds of locks which are only 12 meters wide, which in turn regulates that the width of the ship cannot be more than 11.6 meters, and when you squeeze 128 passengers into this space, the cabins become small by ocean cruising standards. Our suite, for example, was about half the size of a mid-ship veranda suite on Silversea, but after a day or so, it became perfectly comfortable. By the way, ignore the Viking propaganda about their newer ships with verandas. When you add a veranda, you are also reducing the size of a cabin which is already small, because their ships must also be 11.6 meters wide, or less.

Cabin Review

Comfotable, and well appointed.
