This was two consecutive cruises - one of 10 days, one 0f 11. I haven't been back to HAL for almost three years and I am a Five Star Mariner with HAL. All was fine except for the minor niggardly cutbacks that are facts of life with all lines today, e.g. lack of scratch pads, fruit bowls and ice by request only, somewhat slower service to clear dishes etc. in Lido due to less crew members which was also reflected in the Dining Room being closed at lunch on all port days. etc. to staff Lido.

Embarkation was fairly slow - not as well handled as on RCI. Luggage delivery was better than other lines however,

Ship was somewhat worn; however she is scheduled for a 14 day refurbishment in April. Large Balcony had lots of rust, badly stained floor, filthy chair cushions etc.; but all this will be taken care of in the refurbishment I'm sure, as will worn bath floors etc. HAL is famous for the profusion of beautiful flower arrangements about their ships - and that is still the case. Public rooms beautiful, excellent elevator service/speed. There are so many "cleaners" around that you almost trip over them. You never get within 10' of a crew member without a huge smile and friendly greeting

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean-View Verandah Stateroom

Cabin VB

large balcony on rear of ship. Storage in cabin quite limited with very few drawers. This is true of all ships of this Vista class that Carnival designed for their many lines and seen on Cunard, Princess, and Carnival in addition to HAL. There is NO drawer or shelf at the "desk" - strange I think. Luckily I travel alone and so with only one, in a space "designed" for two, I found adequate space for my many belongings needed for a 21 day trip.
