Most of my cruises in the last few years have been on Princess. We had not sailed on RCCL for three or four years. We picked this cruise primarily for the price and the fact that it sailed from Port Canaveral. There were 8 seniors in our group. All experienced cruisers.

Embarkation: Our group arrived at two different times and had two different experiences. Four of our group arrived about 11:30 am since they need assistance in boarding and had notified RCCL that they required wheelchair assistance. Upon arrival they were told that there would be about a 2 hour wait since RCCL only had a couple of wheelchairs! Remember this ship carries over 3,000 people. After waiting over an hour they decided to board w/o the assistance, but this was to be a recurring theme. RCCL is not inclined to provide assistance to handicapped people. If you require assistance, I would suggest you try another line. They only place they were at all equipped to handle people with disabilities was in Labade .

We arrived about 1:30pm and had no problems boarding. I was surprised, however to see people boarding with cases of water and soda, after RCCL had specifically told me none were allowed to be taken on board and it is clearly stated in the contract that you can bring ONLY one bottle of wine per person on board. If you are going to have a rule--enforce it! The new terminal at Canaveral is very nice, but be prepared to walk long distances.
