This was our (my wife and I) third cruise on RCI in 5 years and love their ships, including the Adventure of the Seas. Regardless of the ship, there's something for everyone. As we've grown older, we don't participate in all activities as before, but enjoy the fact that we have choices.
One thing I have to mention is that the Pan American pier from which the Adventure embarks (and disembarks) in San Juan is the worst of any we've experienced. It's not the nice modern port on the other side of the bay next to Old San Juan. Lines were long, delays everywhere, seemingly not well organized, and old-looking. Not the fast, organized, modern facilities we've experienced at other ports. There is NOTHING at this port -- no hotels, no restaurants, no shopping -- nothing but an old airport.
Based on some earlier reviews, we were afraid the Adventure would appear worn, dated, and unclean, even after the recent refurb. But we found it not to be the case. It appeared just as fresh and clean as the brand new Oasis that we were on about 2.5 years ago. In fact, most of the new features are exactly the same as on the larger ship.
Of course cabins are small but having a balcony makes it larger and much more enjoyable.
Loved Old San Juan and staying in Condado at the Best Western Plus, Condado Palms hotel which was near the beach and good restaurants. If on a cruise, take a couple of extra days on the front end and/or back end to visit this beautiful city.
