Cruising is an individual experience, and out of 2,200 passengers it is absolutely possible for one person to have a 1* experience and another to have a 5* experience on the same cruise which I think explains the range of reviews for this ship. I'm happy to report that my experience was excellent. I am Diamond with RCI traveling solo from the mainland U.S.; this was my first time on Rhapsody and my 14th cruise overall. The ship is smaller with fewer activities and dining options than RCIs larger Oasis class ships, but I enjoyed the more intimate experience. Rhapsody is leaving the area for other seas, and many of the Australian passengers I met who have sailed on her before were very sad she was leaving.

I especially enjoyed meeting my fellow Cruise Critic roll call passengers and would encourage anyone thinking of booking a cruise to join the roll call(s) for that cruise as you get a lot of good information beforehand and can make good friends which enhances the enjoyment, imho.

Embarkation was a breeze. Walked over with my luggage from the Marriott Sydney Harbour hotel at about 1:30pm and was on the ship in less than 10 minutes.

Cabin Review

Large Interior Stateroom

Cabin L

Cabin was as expected based on prior experience with RCI ships, but smaller than on newer ships. Bed was very firm but comfortable. Storage was adequate for two people (I was by myself and didn't even take up half of it). Location was good; not as far a walk from the elevator/stairs as it appears on the deck plan. Quiet location as well; not much noise from public areas. However, I do recommend ear plugs for the evenings where there could be more noise.
