Our first Viking cruise. We stayed for 4 nights at the Le Meridien in Paris prior to boarding the Buri in Chalon. I wish we would have stayed another 2 nights. Great hotel, very close to all the attractions. At the Buri checking in was quick as the paperwork was done at the hotel. Our cabin was comfortable and more than adequate with two large portholes. We were on the lowest deck and it was nice and quiet. No engine noise. We didn't miss the balcony and found it funny we never saw anyone using theirs during the whole cruise. There is plenty of outside open areas and the top deck to watch the scenery go by. The crew is multi-national, speak english, and very friendly. The included shore activities were great and we never needed to purchase another excursion. I was amazed at the number of Roman ruins in southern France. The food was good and service excellent. Entertainment was satisfying, pretty much what you can expect on a river boat. Bus travel was comfortable and well organized, the guides well versed. We enjoyed the trip and are looking forward to another. There were no negatives to report.
