My husband and I took the 11 day, May 7th repositioning cruise around the Hawaiian Islands and then on to Vancouver. This was our 3rd cruise with Carnival and were excited that we had made the gold level. Our prior Carnival cruises were in the Caribbean and they were wonderful; so we had a point of reference and knew the basics of how to enjoy cruising.
We had never been to Hawaii before and were very excited about this adventure. What a disappointment! Carnival what has happened to you? This cruise was a sham. I believe Carnival put very little effort in the planning, staffing, maintenance, management, etc. with the hopes of making their profit at the expense of passengers as they moved the ship to Alaska for the summer. Embarkation was a nightmare. The ship (Legend) was in poor condition. Three of the five ports were in industrial areas. The staff seemed clueless. The effort put into the “funville” activities were laughable. (ex. paper airplane making demonstration). We never saw the cruise director.
There is another review on cruise critic about this embarkation which is spot on so I will skip that horrible experience.
Nice. Our steward was rarely seen but our needs were met. Occasionaly heard the vacumn and chairs above in the Unicorn Cafe but only briefly each night.
There is a beach is right off the pier which was good. There are also shops and restaurants within walking distance. I understand there are better beaches up the coast that many took a taxi to visit. Good port.
