I was a little skeptical after reading some of the negative reviews, but our family really enjoyed our week aboard the Adventure.
Positives:
Check in: Boarding was a breeze. We had to be out of our hotel at 11 and went straight over. We were lunching in the Windjammer by 11:30. Bags were in our room by 2.
Our cabin was comfortable. The hump balcony offered good views but blocked any breeze that might have come from the font of the ship so we used it infrequently. Unfortunately the toilets in our section were out three times and we had to walk down a couple floors to use the public. Once in my jammies! There was a slight urine smell in the room unless we kept it chilly. We had no complaints about the bed or pillows and storage is plentiful.
Took the water taxi into town and did a little shopping. St. Maarten was very clean and easy to navigate. The beach vendors were aggressively trying to peddle their chairs, so it would have been easy to do a beach break just in town. We were still a little jet lagged so we scrapped our plans for a beach day and went back to the ship for a pool day instead. Lovely afternoon on an uncrowded ship!
Rain like I have never seen before. Buckets and buckets of rain and wind. We had a beach day planned, so that was out. We braved the rain and wind and blew into town for some shopping. Had a few drinks at an outdoor bar when the weather settled down a bit. Sorry to have missed out on the beach here.
Beautiful city! Enjoyed a walk around Old San Juan and had the meal of a,lifetime on the rooftop at Punto del Vista!
