I had read very negative reviews of this ship ranging from dirty carpets to fetid odors. I found the ship to be very well maintained for an older ship and, fortunately, odor free. The staff was wonderful, and entertainment was good although, for the first time on any cruise I have taken, I did not care for the RCL stage shows featuring the singers and dancers. Food at the Windjammer was as expected. I don't expect gourmet food at a mass buffet but the variety and quality was good enough so that I didn't starve! Quite the contrary. I found the food at the Edelweiss dining room to be a bit disappointing. There were some nice dishes but, on the whole, the food was just OK. I found the chicken to be chewy, the beef so-so, the appetizers not very memorable and the desserts looked a lot better than they tasted. One day I ordered a bread pudding with a caramel sauce that was so sweet it was, for me, inedible. I took a very inexpensive cruise on Carnival this past winter and not only was the food better but the desserts were outstanding.

On sea days, a few more activities would have been appreciated. I was especially impressed that RCL has instituted a special patrol to discourage chair hoggers. If you leave your chair for more than half an hour, you may come back to find your belongings removed. I really enjoyed the ports of call, especially Naples (Pompeii, Poisitano, Ravello) & Thessaloniki. All in all, I had a wonderful time and the negatives were just a tiny part of our overall positive experience.

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D1

Clean and comfortable with adequate storage space. Small shower. Gone are the individual bottles of shampoos and conditioners as well as chocolate on your pillow at night. Few movies offered on television.

Port Reviews

Istanbul

Such an interesting city. We visited the Blue Mosque, Haiga Sophia, the Topkapi Palace, the Grand Bazaar, the Spice Market and a Bosphorus cruise to the Asian side of Turkey.

Mykonos

Pleasant port to walk around, sit at a cafe and eat lunch and shop. Took an excursion to the ancient city of Delos - very interesting.

Santorini

Very pretty island. Oia is beautiful. Cable car to ship gets very crowded. Donkey rides down are terrifying!

Athens (Piraeus)

So much to do. The new museum by the Acropolis is amazing. Plaka district is fun - lots of shopping. Changing of the guard at Parliament building was most interesting.

Taormina (Messina)

Taormina is a cute town. Some interesting churches, architecture, good restaurants and shopping.

Naples

So many interesting places close by,:Pompeii, Poisitano, Ravello, Sorrento, Capri, etc.
