This review is way to long to tell. But I will recap .....Our trip was booked and paid for far in advance and all together. First of all, they split our group of 4 into 2 different flights coming back and one person that paid for upgrades did not get all of the flights upgraded as paid for.
Unknown to us, the ship was changed from the Njord to the Freya - which as it turns out, the Freya was the best part of our journey (the first boat). Viking told us a couple days into the trip that we would change boats midway into the cruise due to water levels (took a whole day with busing, etc). However, friends that traveled with Avolon and one other line DID NOT have to change ships (they traveled the same week we did).
The boat traveled at night and docked during the day - so much for watching any scenery. Our balcony was virtually useless because while docked there was another boat right beside us - we could open our curtains and not only see into their rooms, but could touch their balcony as well!
cabin was great except the balcony was useless while in port due to the other boats being docked right beside us. With our curtain open we looked right into the other boat's bedroom. We could touch the boat if we went onto the balcony. We rarely traveled during the day so all the pictures of you sitting on your balcony enjoying the view are very misleading. The rooms were clean and well kept. The Freya housekeeping was attentive and very pleasing. Njord housekeeping service acted detached and did their job with as little interaction as possible.
