Background - This was my wife's first cruise and my first cruise since family trips as a child on Carnival. We’re both experienced travelers in our 30’s. We were traveling with my parents and two of their closest friends (all in their 60’s). We selected this port-intensive (9 of 10 days in port) itinerary because of the three day/two night stay in St Petersburg and because of my parents’ previous experience on Regent having taking a cruise in the Med a few years ago.

Hotel Info – The complimentary pre-cruise hotel was at the Sheraton in the heart of Stockholm. This was a popular cruise hotel as there was a river cruise that had also put up guests at the hotel and boarded their buses at the same time as Voyager. The hotel offered complimentary breakfast buffet and was conveniently located. The hotel lobby bar staff members were particularly friendly. Our only complaint (and one we heard from a number of other guests) was that the A/C wasn’t very efficient providing little in the way of cool air.

Ship Info – Extremely comfortable ship with one of the best crew to guest ratio’s (1 : 1.56) as well as space per guest (59 : 1). The only time we saw anything approximating a crowd it was during the embarkation lunch at La Veranda where our group of six was split into 2/4 to be seated at shared tables so that we didn’t need to wait.

Cabin Review

Penthouse Suite

Cabin B

Cabin: We were in a PH-B Penthouse Suite (370 SF) with Butler service on Deck 7 – Suite 765 in the middle of the ship across from a guest laundry facility. The cabin and bathroom were spotless and the balcony while on the small side was immaculate. The furnishings were clearly "not new" but were in good condition. The one oddity was the club chair which was upholstered in a slippery fabric which with the slightest slouching would send you to the ground. The separate shower was nice, though it was rather small for my 6'3" 190lb frame. The walk in closet was particularly popular with Ms. Holmesie and accommodated our two huge hard-sided Tumi suitcases and their contents with ease.

Issues: There was one halogen light in the bathroom which seemed to have a short as some days it decided to work while others not so much. Rajeev kept working with engineering on a permanent solution; however, one was never found. This was our one room hiccup and for that we were glad. Our one real complaint was that there was a terrible odor in the hallway from the day we boarded until day 5 or 6 despite most of our neighbors complaining.
