We had traveled extensively and done many ocean cruises, but this was our first experience on a river boat. In every way it met and more often exceeded our expectations! One of the most impressive features of this cruise line was the fact that you were never left to find your own way! The transfers between EVERY spot (airport, hotel, excursion) made you feel as though you were being "taken care of!" It was very reassuring to know that! Not all cruise lines are quite that accommodating. The excursions were very good with extremely knowledgeable tour guides, all connected to Viking. The pre and post extensions had Viking representatives in the hotel lobbies that were most helpful in suggesting restaurants and guiding tours. All staff on the ship (Kara) were friendly and fabulous! The food was good, perhaps not the top gourmet, but certainly very good. The last night; however, the food was excellent!!!! We met so many wonderful people onboard also which certainly added to our experience.
