This was to be our first River Cruise and we chose Viking because we had heard good things about them and many of the reviews I researched spoke highly of their ship, service and their crews. We were a group of ten friends who had gotten together to take the Cruise, friends from all walks of life, friends who also enjoy life to the fullest.

In some of the reviews we read there was criticism of the food, that it was not up to the standards of the large cruise lines, well people should remember that this is not a large cruise ship it is a river cruise ship so the kitchens and storage facilities are much smaller. That being said all of our group thought that the food was very good, if not exceptional. Complimentary wine and beer was served with all meals and it was very good as well. Our glasses were filled constantly be the very attentive wait staff and none were ever allowed to remain empty if you didn't wish them to be. The food was abundant, tastefully prepared and presented.

The Maitre De, Neb (sp) was a cut above and beyond, attentive to all our needs and to the needs of all the other passengers aboard. No one got preferential treatment and were attended to in a timely manner.

Cabin Review

French Balcony

The cabins were compact but very efficient. Lots of space to store your clothes and several plugs to accommodate North American voltage so charging all your electronic devices was easy. Heated floors in the bathrooms a nice added touch. The bed and linens were very comfortable and it was nice to have a floor to ceiling sliding door that you could open and enjoy the scenery while cruising the river. The room attendant did an awesome job and the cabin was kept immaculate.
