First time cruisers, our trip to the Baltic capitals was the most wonderful experience and excelled our expectations. The staff were wonderful and they made us feel comfortable at all times, welcoming us back on board after each trip on land and entertaining us when we were at sea. The food was wonderful and so were the nightly shows and the lectures on the places to visit very informative.
If you are reasonably active and confident, most of the cities visited can be explored with a good travel book as there are shuttle buses that run frequently to the city centres and you can explore at leisure. You do need to go ashore as an organised group in Russia because of visa requirements. Although expensive, we thought the Exclusive Hermitage excursion at night one of the highlights of our trip; a magical experience! The 40 piece St Peterburg orchestra were fantastic and the glass of champagne an added bonus.
Elected for a larger cabin on A deck. Very nice twin beds (comfortable) but one complaint was we found the room noisy from the air con and engine. As we were first time cruisers, thought this the 'norm' but later in the cruise, speaking to others, they found their room to be quite quiet. We also had a shower over a bath and some cabins now have shower cabinets which we would have preferred. However the room was immaculate and comfortable.
