Viking is a shrewd marketing Company. Spend a week on a river which at any moment in time has 10,000 barges to have a few hours of wonderful scenery!!

Book an upper level balcony cabin and realize at the end of the cruise that the ship "repositions" at each docking so that the suites are out facing ( plus the French Balconies underneath) and the balcony cabins are facing the bank of the river directly in front of them!!

Ask the Viking Company rep where the ship will be docked in Basel the day before you arrive so you can tell the cabbie in Basel, be given the same directions as 6 months before, go to 2 different sites before finding the final site where Kara is docked and be told by the Captain that he knows weeks in advance where the ship will be docked. Offered the cost of the cab fare($65), accepted and then 48 hours later asked to return $30 Euros as this would be the usual cab fare to get you to the site. The controller insisted on the return of funds, when desk person told to take back the total $65 euros, he pleaded that we accept the COMPROMISE!! VERY SMALL MINDED CONTROLLER!!
