This was the first ocean cruise for my wife and me and we were totally delighted. The Viking Star was beautiful and the layout of the ship was excellent. The entertainment offered was wonderful and the daily activities (presentations, lectures, etc.) were informative and enjoyable. The service and staff were beyond what we were expecting and made the entire voyage a much more pleasant experience. They all were friendly and helpful in so many ways. Special thanks to Zrinka Kurdum and her food service staff, who were the best. The food was spectacular with excellent choices at each meal. I did not lose any weight!

The cabin was excellent also. It was larger than expected with a good size bath and shower. The veranda was one of the features that made the voyage special. I enjoyed watching the ship enter and leave each port.

There was a good selection of shore excursions and everyone seemed to enjoy them. The quality of the guides varied somewhat but that is to be expected. One thing that should be improved is getting to and from the ship in Monte Carlo. For some reason we had to use the tenders to get to shore and the harbor had choppy water making on and off the ship difficult and somewhat dangerous for some elderly passengers. For all the other ports we used the docks and everything was fine.
