This was our second visit to Budapest after a previous cruise on the Eastern Danube from Bucharest. Budapest remained spectacular. The location of the pre cruise hotel Budda Hilton was great. It was centered on many activities on the Budda hill easily available by bus routes. The river cruise met all of our expectations in terms of scenery on the Danube and Rhine, castles and cathedrals. Excursions were generally well organized, comfortable and interesting. Accommodations on the Alsvin were great and the crew were fantastic.

Special acknowledgement to our cruise director Mari. There was an unanticipated issue with low water causing us to have to change ships. This was managed flawlessly by Viking and the crews of both ships involved. Whereas this would have been a catastrophe with a smaller line, it was barely a minor inconvenience for us. The post cruise extension in Amsterdam was likewise very good. The Movenpick was a great hotel in a great location. Public transportation on the trams was easy and effective. Recommend the 48 hour transportation pass. The city was a joy to explore.

Cabin Review

Veranda Superior

Cabin was fine. Glad we did not pay for a veranda suit as most of the time we were docked side by side with other ships making a veranda useless.
