My sister and I were on the Viking Hermod from Chalon Sur Saone to Avignon in May 2015. It was a wonderful experience. We spent several days in Paris in advance, then took the train to Chalon. Mostly, it was the staff who made the cruise so great (sincerely friendly, professional, helpful and fun). The ship was gorgeous and our balcony room very comfortable and extremely well designed for space, storage, ease, etc. The food was great and there were always several choices. The complimentary excursions were usually excellent, and there was a surprising number of optional excursions to also chose from (fairy priced). We had great weather and no sailing problems. We enjoyed meeting fellow travelers during cocktail hour, dining, and on the excursions. The other travelers were the type of people we wanted to cruise with - adults, diverse, well-mannered, considerate, fun, from many countries. After the cruise, we took the hi-speed train from Avignon back to Paris CDG.

So, my husband & I are going on the Rhine with Viking next year!
