Three days before leaving we received an email stating the Baldur would not make it to Budapest in time for our departure due to low water levels. We were to meet the Viking Magni. Upon our early arrival at the airport, we were met by Viking representatives and transported by van to the Magni. We were warmly welcomed aboard, and were surprised to hear that they knew we had an early flight and that our stateroom was ready! Our luggage was quickly brought to our room.

The Magni crew was fantastic - always smiling and eager to help. Rebecca, the Hotel Manager; Rares, the Dining Room Manager; and especially Caitlyn, the Program Director, helped to make this a memorable experience. Special thanks to Radi, the Concierge, who went above and beyond doing double duty after Caitlyn was injured. Others who gave us superb service were Danisa, our room stewardess; Maurice, Cesar, Milo, Faye, and Blagoje in the dining room and Terrace. They seemed to anticipate our needs before we even asked.

The excursions were well organized and very informative. The local guides were well versed and able and eager to answer all questions.

Deluxe Stateroom

Cabin E

We had originally planned to book a Veranda stateroom, but could not get one for the dates we wanted. We opted for the Deluxe Stateroom knowing we wouldn't be spending a lot of time in the room other than sleeping. It was a wise decision. The room was a little tight, but ample enough for our needs. Luggage was easily stored under the bed, and there was plenty of closet/drawer space for the 15 days. The shelf under the window gave extra storage space. The room was always spotless, and fresh towels were always waiting for us. The heated floor in the bathroom and the L'Occitane products were a nice bonus.
