Cabin IC

DO NOT book a cabin on deck 4 of the Costa neoRomantica. Directly below is the industrial crew area with sea tight bulkhead doors that are locked when at sea. When these doors are opened a loud alarm sounds to warn that the doors must be closed. The alarm can be heard on deck 4, and is loud enough to disturb if a light sleeper. Unfortunately these doors are opened occasionally throughout the night, and then continuously every 5 to 10 minutes from 5 am onwards. Fortunately we could be moved to deck 6 (6123), where there was no such disturbance.

On to the good points. The cabin is very large with plenty of room for two people to move around without getting in each other's way. Much larger than for example the cabins on P&O Ventura or Oriana.

Another excellent point, is that the Costa neoRomantica has some proper double beds, not twins pushed together, and both 4080 and 6123 had these, and they were a good UK king size bed. If you check the deck plans, you can see which cabins have the double beds, and also which cabins do not have the pull down bunks which get in the way at the side (again both 4080 and 6123 did not have these, but many others did).

Plenty of hanging and drawer space. Sockets were only EU or US (a couple by the mirror and one on the floor). A large 32" flat screen TV, but the only UK channel was BBC World, but there were a number of European sports channels showing football and motor racing if that is your thing. No access to any sockets on the TV to plug anything in to it.

Bathroom is a good size, again larger than more modern ships. An efficient shower, and the essentials in 'no-brand' Costa toiletries.
