This was our first cruise and we were naturally a little apprehensive about how we would cope with such a long time on board. Our fears were allayed considerably by the friendliness, courtesy and efficiency of the staff. The ship was immaculate at all times and the hard work put in by the crew was unobtrusive. The accommodation was most acceptable. The food interesting and tasty as well as being abundant and pleasing to the eye. The quality of the entertainment was outstanding and well orchestrated by the very professional cruise director and his team. It was difficult to make choices about what to participate in from the diverse selection provided. Although embarkation and disembarkation were a little irritating for the long waiting sessions, it is appreciated that a large number of passengers have to be handled and the processes were fairly well handled and organisation evident. All in all, this was a very positive experience and one that we would like to repeat.
Spotlessly clean and spacious with adequate cupboarding and mirrors. Bed very comfortable. Shower a little cramped but served its basic purpose. Daily service was very good and discreet. Regular supply of dry towels was much appreciated.
Took a long walk along the sea front promenade as far as the Aqua Centre. It was good to really stretch one's legs on land for a while. Sat on benches now and again to simply watch locals on the beach or to relax and eat a snack. Went into museums - the one on the promontory displaying costumes and customs of the area - and was particularly delighted to discover the dolphin display behind the building with the green doors. Enjoyed wandering around. Felt a little torn as the excursions offered were tempting, but ended up having a very satisfying day.
Walked the ship out of the port along the sea front past the old harbour to view the castle. The open air cafes were busy and vibrant. Wandered through the streets of the old town. Pleasant.
