Sail Date: Oct 2015

We took the Avalon Affinity for a late October/early November sailing along the Moselle and Rhine rivers, and had a great time. It was a special wine-themed cruise with several included wine tasting events that were a lot of fun.

The trip started with 2 nights at a Paris hotel, the Hotel du Collectionneur. It was a very nice hotel, with spacious rooms and bathrooms, and a great breakfast. It was a couple of blocks to the nearest Metro station, so we were able to get out and explore. They had free wifi, but it was slow. That was my only complaint. You could buy a faster connection, but we didn't.

After 2 nights in Paris, we took a train and short bus ride to the boat on the Moselle River. Check-in was fast and efficient. We really enjoyed the ship. Our cabin had plenty of room and storage space. The bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well. There was a safe in the room, and a full-sized hair dryer in the bathroom. The TV had a few English-speaking channels as well as music and a lot of movies available. Wifi was free and worked well most of the time. It was occasionally slow, but we were always able to do what we needed to do. And there were several electrical outlets in the room, so we could charge our various devices at the same time (remember to bring converters for the European outlets). There were also two desktop computers available in the lobby. The room also had robes and slippers for our use, and a couple of extra blankets, which came in handy when we were sitting on the top deck on a chilly November day.
