This is a fabulous cruise in spite of low water levels and swapping ships ( bus from Nuremberg to Passau) plus having to bus into Budapest from Vienna! Our weather was wonderful, unseasonably warm, but no rain causes even lower levels! Our visit to Bratislava was an hour bus ride from Vienna also.. as we had to spend 2 nights in Vienna, which was the first time a ship couldn't go there! We had swapped from Bragi to identical sister ship Skadi which was handled by Viking very professional and with style. Our Program director, Caspar and Concierge Dejan accompanied us but it was hard to say goodbye to the rest of the crew we had grown to love. Disappointed we were bused also into Budapest and stayed our last night at the Hilton, which is up by the castle on Buda and had an awesome view from our very large room. Our stay in Budapest was only a few hours and that was upsetting but unavoidable. We did feel Viking should have given us a choice of the city bus tour or going directly to the hotel. When we did finally get to our room, 5:00 pm we had spent way too many hours on a bus! Exhausted and had to get our luggage out by 2:30 am to transition to airport for return! How I longed for a full day & 1 night in this beautiful city on the boat! This had been the plan if we had been able to complete itinerary. Viking did its very best, always took excellent care of us, in spite of change in plans, out of their control. YES, I would do this cruise again...in spite of everything, but plan on several extra days in Budapest on our own. The Paris tradgedy was just hours before we left for airport, so I am counting my blessings for an awesome trip and safe return to the USA!
