The title is what my wife said to me yesterday as we were leaving tea time. A little background: she is a platinum and her parents diamonds, me a first time cruiser.

When her family heard that we were going on a cruise, they were so excited. Told me all the wonderful things and how Carnival would pamper us. And repeatedly the Ecstasy missed the mark. They told us how you would leave your room and it would be cleaned up, how you would get a mint on your pillow each night. No more; one cleaning a day and no mint. I was told how great the room service was. Nope, we had no menu and room service argued with me when I told them. Refused to give us a menu and I had to go to guest services to see one. Most of the food items had been removed and a whole page of them were now charged for like the chicken tenders and the pizza. And elegant night, with the lobster tail? HAH!!!!! NOW they charge you $20 a tail (and it was not that way when her parents went a little over a month ago).

Food was hit and miss (last night's food was spot on while elegant EVERYTHING was overcooked). The last thing she wanted me to experience was tea time. We got there, it had been moved from the piano bar to the restaurant because they had rented the space for a private function. So no music, nothing special. It was just like going to lunch or dinner. For someone not used to cruising, it was nice but nothing special. Honestly as a platinum IHG member, I was treated nicer at hotels than on the ship. Even to the point that I counted "your welcomes" for all the times I said thank you and for the whole trip it was able to be counted on one hand. I did not feel welcome and although I enjoyed cruising, my view of Carnival from this ship is nothing special.
