We flew into Hobby airport and stayed at the Hobby Doubletree, which was very nice for the area, but also for Doubletrees. We got to the ship using the Galveston Shuttle which was fantastic for round trip transportation from Hobby Airport.
We've traveled on Carnival, RCCL, Holland America, Princess, and Celebrity. Our favorite cruise line by far is Celebrity, which we compare every experience we have to our experiences with them.
This was our first cruise with DCL.
Disney is a class act and we feel that Disney is competitive with Celebrity in many ways, but the Wonder just seems rather old and things like the HVAC and plumbing in our cabin is deteriorating.
We had a great time on our Disney cruise. The customer service is fantastic on the cruise line, the food was fantastic, the entertainment was wonderful. You could tell the time and attention to detail through the activities planned around the ship, but also the decor and details of the ship itself.
Castaway Cay was by far the highlight of the cruise. Honestly, I would take a cruise just to spend time more time on the Castaway Cay because of how well managed the island is.
We traveled with our 9 month old daughter, which limited our ability to do anything in the evening. However, the programming they had each day called "toddler time" was great in addition to all the activities going on around the ship that we found.
The cabin itself was great. However, we were plagued with issues in the cabin, that I feel reflected the age of the ship. The maintenance team was never able to correct the HVAC system in our cabin. When we arrived, it wasn't working at all, which resulted in an unbearably hot cabin. The technicians weren't able to ensure the HVAC system was working consistently, but offered us a fan to use in the cabin, which made the cabin a tolerable experience. Additionally, the toilets stopped flushing during our trip, as well.
