No need to cover much ground when sailing around the Bordeaux region offers such loveliness. The things we appreciated: the amazing organization and attention to detail. The large dinner tables, which ensured that we sat with others and made friends.
The superb, friendly and smart staff, who all seem to enjoy doing whatever they can for you. The excellent food and dining service. The interesting shore excursions. The unobtrusive yet prompt room cleaning service. I could go on and on.
One example of staff dedication: we had an off-vessel dinner at a nearby chateau winery. The serving staff from the Forseti came along to serve the dinner. Their bus was arranged to leave the chateau first, so they could return ahead of the passengers to set up a late-evening wine and cheese tasting on board. An unrelated road accident caused us all to take another route back to the vessel, and the bus on which the servers were riding ended up returning to the dock last. Instead of shrugging and cancelling the wine and cheese event, the servers jumped off their bus and literally sprinted down the dock and onto the Forseti. When the passengers strolled back over the gangplank, the servers had the whole wine and cheese event set up, and they greeted us with trays of wine glasses as we arrived. If we hadn't seen their mad dash past us, we would have thought they had somehow figured out how to be in two places at once!
