This was our first River Cruise and it exceeded our expectations all round. From the moment we were picked up in Budapest and taken to the ship the service was first rate. We loved being so close to the action in all the Ports. A short walk with the guides in the morning then left to explore on our own. Any questions about local history or directions to hidden attractions were cheerfully given by the well trained guides.
The cabin made good use of the space and was very well appointed. One must bare in mind that River Ships are smaller by necessity and thus the cabins must reflect this but the design is so well thought out that we did not notice.
We loved the freedom to come and go from the ship with ease. No security or bag scanning and seldom a line up. We could pop back for lunch then back into town. The food was great and the Chef's pre meal overview was a pleasure. If you want endless buffet style dinning stay with ocean cruises. We felt the dining options of either the terrace (lighter fare) or the full table service of the main dining room was more than adequate. Had a great time and would definitely cruise with Viking again.
Great! The French Balcony is worth the extra money.
