My father had landed on Omaha Beach during the summer of 1944. I wanted to see where he had been and try to imagine what it must have been like. The Museum at Arromanches was excellent. I have worked in museums all my life and I was impressed with the story they tried to tell. I was particularly struck with the faces on some of the manikins - they were so young! Going to see where my dad had been so many years ago meant taking a cruise along the Seine and then a bus to the beaches. It was a very moving experience for me and I felt that Viking did the ceremony at the American Cemetary with great sensitivity. I am glad a took the opportunity to go on this trip,

The cruise as a whole was excellent, I enjoyed the food, particularly the dishes from Normandy that we got to try. The tours were also very good, they went interesting places and the pace was such that you got to see everything. I appreciated the fact that the boats had a "leisurely" option for those guests who did not feel able to walk with the rest of the group. While I went with the regular tours, on a previous river cruise, I had had to take the leisurely option and I feel I saw everything the others had seen. That is a great idea. Viking is doing a good job and I feel certain I will take another river cruise before to long.
