I chose this cruise because I had always wanted to see the Rhine River. Our travel agent recommended Viking and made most of the arrangements for us. We were on the Viking Ve and left Basel on Friday, April 15 and sailed to Amsterdam. Our embarkation was very smooth. Viking picked us up at the airport in a nice tour bus and took us directly to the boat, handled all our luggage and made everything very easy. We had flown from Atlanta all night and were exhausted when we got to Basel. We were met on the boat by staff with warm, moist towels and taken to the dining room where we were offered coffee and breakfast. All the staff was very friendly and welcoming.

Our room was already ready so we were taken there and staff showed us everything in the room, lights, etc. The cabin was clean and very nice.Sitting room was well equipped, the bathroom was a decent size and the veranda was wonderful. The veranda wasn't very big but did hold 2 chairs and a side table. We enjoyed sitting out there during our cruise. The ship wasn't too big which was nice. It was very clean, comfortable and everything was easy to find, and if you couldn't find something, the staff was always there to help.

We ate every meal in the dining room. We met two excellent servers our first meal on the ship, Glen and Zoli, and we stayed with them the entire trip. They were very conscientious, great servers and both had great personalities which kept us entertained for all our meals. The food was always good and presentation excellent. If we didn't like something, our servers would happily bring something else for us to try. We enjoyed the omelet making station in the morning. Our least favorite meal was German night.
