I chose the Amawaterways Rhine River based on a recommendation from a travel agent and friend who had sailed with Amawaterways before. We cruised on the Nile about 5 years ago but this was our first cruise in Europe.

We boarded the ship in Amsterdam. The next morning we toured the city and went on a boat cruise through the canals. There was also an optional garden tour that day. There were at least two excursion options every day.

Each day we recived a detailed itinerary for the next day and lots of useful information on the excursions with pictures, weather forecast, shopping opportunities, etc. Having that information the evening before helped me maximize my activities.
