We wanted to experience one of the huge ships to see if they were to our taste, after 10 cruises on smaller ships. We chose Ovation of the Seas because it was brand new and coming eventually to Australia. The ship is beautiful and very modern, but relies very heavily on technology that often does not work properly.
We had problems with noise that were not addressed & heard that many others had problems that were not adequately addressed. Do not book cabin number 12210 - the cleaning robot is stored in an area somewhere above this cabin and when the ship is at sea, it bangs loudly continually. We did not sleep for two nights until we were moved to another cabin. We were told that this noise cannot be fixed, which means that unless you have ear plugs, or can sleep through anything, this cabin is worthless. It was a real shame, as the cabin itself was very nice and in a great position.
Overall, we found the crew not up to the caring standard of other RCI ships, but the entertainment and artwork was amazing.
The cabin is modern, spacious and comfortable. The noise from the cleaning robot while the ship is at sea, however, is horrendous and continuous. Imagine loud metallic banging every 20 seconds or so - we were moved to another cabin because they said there was nothing they could do about it.
Do not book this cabin!!!
We had been to Penang before, so just strolled around Georgetown. It was very hot.
A modern, hot, comfortable city.
